ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS AND
PRECAUTIONS
Your CALDERA spa has been carefully designed to give you maximum
safety against electrical shock. Connecting the spa to an improperly
wired circuit will negate many of the spa’s safety features. Improper
wiring may also cause electrocution, risk of fire, and other risks of
injuries. Please read and follow the electrical installation requirements
and instructions for your spa completely! Unless otherwise stipulated by
your dealer, THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
SERVICE NOTE: All CALDERA spas have diagnostic functions that
are displayed on the control panel. Four flashing lines are visible on the
control panel if the heater high limit thermostat has tripped. If the four
flashing lines are visible, follow the instructions in the troubleshooting
section to identify and correct the cause. The four flashing lines will
stop flashing once the problem has been corrected.
CALDERA SPAS MUST BE WIRED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL
APPLICABLE NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTRICAL CODES. ALL
ELECTRICAL WORK SHOULD BE DONE BY AN EXPERIENCED,
LICENSED ELECTRICIAN. WE RECOMMEND THE USE OF
APPROPRIATE ELECTRICAL CONDUIT, FITTINGS, AND WIRE FOR
ALL CIRCUITS.
The KAUAI spa requires a 16 amp, single phase, 220-240 volt, three
wire service (one line, one neutral, one ground). By using a 16 amp
service, the heater will not operate whenever the jet pump is running
in the high speed mode. Upgrading to a 32 amp service will allow the
heater and the high speed mode of the jet pump to run simultaneously.
When upgrading the KAUAI spa to a 32 amp service, jumper
JP3 must be removed from the control box prior to powering up
the spa. The MAKENA, SALINA, MARTINIQUE, SEYCHELLES
and REUNION spas require a dual electrical service using a 16 & 25
amp breaker and wired per the illustration found on the next page.
Additionally, one main disconnect switch with at least 3mm separation
between contacts must be used for all electrical circuits to the spa.
Mount the subpanel according to local codes, but not closer than 1.5
meters (5') away. Your spa must be supplied by a residual current
device (RCD) - with a tripping rating not exceeding 30 mA in an
electrical subpanel.
CONDUIT INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
1. To connect the electrical service, first remove the 2 screws from
the equipment compartment door. Slightly pull the door panel out
from the bottom using the notches in the door panel on one side
then the other, then lower and remove door panel from the spa.
2. Locate the control box. Loosen the screws on the front of the
control box. Remove the screws and the control box cover.
3. Insert power wires into access opening from either side below the
front corner, you will find a plastic cap attached to spa.
4. Connect the supply conduit to the control box and connect the
wiring as detailed below and on the wiring diagram label on the
inside of the control box cover.
WARNING: Removing or bypassing any RCD breaker will result in
an unsafe spa and will void the spa’s warranty.
IMPORTANT: Should you ever find the need to move or relocate your
CALDERA spa, it is essential that you understand and apply these
installation requirements. Your CALDERA spa has been carefully
engineered to provide maximum safety against electric shock.
Remember, connecting the spa to an improperly wired circuit will
negate many of its safety features.
NOTE: Long wiring runs may require larger-gauge wire than stated.
