Installing the E5-121 Service Unit(s)
The retrofit kit supports up to four Calix E5-121 service units. The retrofit kit does not
include the E5-121 service units (ordered and packaged separately). Install the E5-121 unit(s)
on the rack above the DC power system, starting from the bottom up.
Note: Calix E5-121 units include a fan filter in the ship kit, for use in office environments.
Do not install the fan filter into E5 units deployed in outdoor cabinets.
To install an E5-121 service unit
1. Unpack the E5-121 unit from its shipping packaging.
2. Mount the E5-121 unit on the rack:
a. Install the mounting ears onto the sides of the E5-121 unit using supplied hardware.
Install the units in reverse, to provide projection mounting.
b. Position the E5-121 unit against the rack above the DC power assembly. Align the
mounting ear holes with the counterpart holes on the rack.
Note: Make sure the subscriber interface adapter cable exits the space above the E5-121
unit, on the right side.
c. Install (4) mounting screws to secure the E5-121 unit to the rack.
