Turning Up the System
Turning up the system involves installing GMT fuses into the DC distribution panel to apply
power to the equipment. GMT fuses are supplied with the kit.
To turn up and test the DC power system
1. At the DC distribution panel, install fuses as follows:
a. Install a 5A GMT fuse in position 1. Verify that the first E5-121 unit powers up.
b. Install additional 5A GMT fuses (into positions 2–4) to support additional E5-121
units, as required. Verify that each unit powers up.
c. Install a 1A GMT fuse in position 12. Verify that the converter fan tray fans start
running.
2. Using a volt meter, test the DC power supply voltage at the E5-121 shelf. Verify that the
voltage reads between -48 and -54 VDC.
3. To equip the subscriber lines for service, install 5-pin fuse modules (as required) in
protection panel #4, located in the rear compartment.
