How to fix a Canon POWERSHOT A85 that doesn't turn on?

If your Canon Digital Camera isn't turning on, here are a few things to check: * Ensure the camera is actually powered on by pressing the ON/OFF button. * Make sure that the CF card slot cover and the battery cover are securely closed. * Verify that the batteries are loaded in the correct direction. * Try replacing the batteries with a fresh set of alkaline or fully recharged batteries (AA-size). * Confirm you're using the correct type of batteries: either AA-size alkaline or Canon AA-size NiMH. * Clean the battery terminals with a dry cloth to ensure good electrical contact. * Try reloading the batteries several times.
