Overview

This document serves as an instruction manual for the Caple TBU850 and TBU520 Touch Control Built-Under Hoods, providing comprehensive guidance on their installation, operation, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The Caple TBU850 and TBU520 are built-under cooker hoods designed to extract vapours and remove odours generated during cooking. They are intended for domestic use and can be configured for either recirculation or ducted installation. In recirculation mode, the air and fumes are cleaned by both a grease filter and an active charcoal filter before being returned to the room. For ducted mode, fumes are directly conveyed outside through an evacuation duct, eliminating the need for a charcoal filter and air deflector. The appliance is equipped with intelligent electronics, including a timer device for speed controls, particularly when air capacity exceeds 650m³/h. This timer automatically adjusts the fan speed after a set period to optimize performance and energy consumption. The cooker hood also features a 10-minute timer function for convenience.

Usage Features:

The cooker hood is operated via a touch control panel, which includes several intuitive buttons:

  • Light switch on/off (A): Controls the integrated lighting.
  • Reduce speed / OFF motor (B): Decreases the fan speed or turns off the motor.
  • Motor speed display (C): Indicates the current fan speed setting.
  • ON motor/increase speed (D): Turns on the motor or increases the fan speed.
  • 10-minute timer (E): Activates a 10-minute timer function.

The appliance is designed to automatically switch off after 4 hours of continuous operation from the last interaction. In the event of a power cut, the functions will restore properly after approximately 15 seconds. The intelligent electronics manage fan speeds, automatically reducing them from higher settings (e.g., 4th to 3rd speed after 5 minutes, or 4th to 2nd speed after 6 minutes for external motor models) when the air capacity exceeds 650m³/h, and from 3rd to 2nd speed after 7 minutes. This automatic adjustment helps maintain optimal performance and energy efficiency. The energy consumption in standby mode is kept low, below 0.5W.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for ensuring the good functioning and longevity of the Caple cooker hood. Key maintenance tasks include:

  • Grease Filter Cleaning: The metal grease filter panel should be removed and cleaned regularly, either by hand or in a dishwasher, at least every two months or more frequently depending on usage. To remove the filter, open the glass panel, push the special filter handle, and pull it downwards. The control panel will signal when the grease filter is saturated by illuminating all buttons after 30 hours of use, at which point the timer button should be pressed to reset the indicator. When washing in a dishwasher, it is recommended to wash the grease filter separately to prevent food particles from becoming trapped in the mesh.
  • Charcoal Filter Replacement (Recirculation Mode): If the appliance is used in recirculation mode, the active charcoal filter needs periodic replacement. This filter can be accessed by first removing the grease filter, then pulling its special plastic tongue until it unfastens from its slot. Charcoal filters should be replaced depending on use, but at least every six months. Specific replacement charcoal filter models (CAP78CF for TBU520 and CAP42CF for TBU850) can be purchased from Caple.
  • Appliance Cleaning: For cleaning the appliance itself, tepid water and a neutral detergent are recommended. Abrasive products should be avoided. For steel appliances, specialized detergents are recommended, with instructions on the product itself to achieve desired results.
  • LED Light Replacement: The LED lights must only be replaced by a qualified or competent person to ensure safety and proper functioning.
  • Supply Cord Replacement: If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to prevent hazards.

The manual emphasizes the importance of following all instructions for grease-filter cleaning and removing grease deposits to avoid potential fire risks, especially when frying with oil. It also highlights that the appliance is not intended for outdoor use and should only be used as a domestic appliance for extracting vapours and odours from cooking.
