Why does my Carrier Air Conditioner compressor operate continuously?
    • K
      kathryncopelandAug 13, 2025
If the compressor operates continuously, it might be due to a dirty air filter (replace it), the unit being undersized for the load (decrease the load or increase the unit size), the thermostat being set too low (reset the thermostat), a low refrigerant charge (locate the leak, repair it, and recharge), air in the system (recover the refrigerant, evacuate the system, and recharge), or a dirty or restricted condenser coil (clean the coil or remove the restriction).

What to do if Carrier 50TCM compressor and condenser fan will not start?
    • C
      Chad WalkerAug 16, 2025
If the compressor and condenser fan of your Carrier Air Conditioner will not start, the possible causes are: a power failure (call power company), a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker (replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker), a defective thermostat, contactor, transformer, or control relay (replace the component), insufficient line voltage (determine the cause and correct it), incorrect or faulty wiring (check the wiring diagram and rewire correctly), or the thermostat setting being too high (lower the thermostat setting below room temperature).

What causes excessive head pressure in Carrier Air Conditioner?
    • M
      michaelduncanAug 20, 2025
Excessive head pressure in your Carrier Air Conditioner can be caused by a dirty drier filter (replace the filter), a dirty condenser coil (clean the coil), refrigerant overcharge (recover excess refrigerant), a faulty TXV (check TXV bulb mounting and secure tightly to suction line and replace TXV if stuck open or closed), air in the system (recover refrigerant, evacuate system, and recharge), or restricted condenser air or air short-cycling (determine cause and correct).

    Elizabeth ZamoraAug 25, 2025
Why does my Carrier 50TCM Air Conditioner compressor keep cycling?
    • D
      Danny CarpenterAug 25, 2025
If your Carrier Air Conditioner compressor cycles (other than normally satisfying thermostat), it could be due to refrigerant overcharge or undercharge (recover refrigerant, evacuate system, and recharge to nameplate), a defective compressor (replace and determine cause), insufficient line voltage (determine cause and correct), a blocked condenser (determine cause and correct), a defective overload (determine cause and replace), a defective thermostat (replace thermostat), a faulty condenser-fan motor (replace), or a restriction in the refrigerant system (locate restriction and remove).

How to fix low suction pressure in Carrier Air Conditioner?
    • Z
      zsmithAug 28, 2025
If the suction pressure of your Carrier Air Conditioner is too low, it could be due to a dirty air filter (replace filter), a low refrigerant charge (check for leaks, repair, and recharge), a restricted metering device or low side (remove source of restriction), a faulty TXV (check TXV bulb mounting and secure tightly to suction line and replace TXV if stuck open or closed), insufficient evaporator airflow (increase air quantity and check filter and replace if necessary), the temperature being too low in the conditioned area (reset thermostat), or a restricted field-installed filter drier (replace).

What to do if Carrier 50TCM Air Conditioner compressor won't start but condenser fan runs?
    • J
      Jose JonesSep 1, 2025
If the compressor of your Carrier Air Conditioner will not start, but the condenser fan runs, it could be due to faulty wiring or loose connections in the compressor circuit (check wiring and repair or replace), a compressor motor that is burned out, seized, or has an internal overload open (determine cause and replace compressor), a defective overload (determine cause and replace), the compressor being locked out (determine cause for safety trip and reset lockout), or one leg of 3-phase power being dead (replace fuse or reset circuit breaker and determine cause).

What causes excessive suction pressure in Carrier Air Conditioner?
    • J
      James SmithSep 4, 2025
Excessive suction pressure in your Carrier Air Conditioner may be caused by a high heat load (check for source and eliminate), a faulty TXV (check TXV bulb mounting and secure tightly to suction line and replace TXV if stuck open or closed), or refrigerant overcharge (recover excess refrigerant).

What causes low head pressure in Carrier 50TCM?
    • C
      Carmen CarrollSep 8, 2025
Low head pressure in your Carrier Air Conditioner can be caused by a low refrigerant charge (check for leaks, repair, and recharge) or a restriction in the liquid tube (remove restriction).
