Thecylinderlinerisselectedtomatchtheboreinnerdiameterofthecylinderblock.TheIDnumberisstampedon
theleftsideofthecylinder.
Piston
Thepistonsaremadeofanaluminumalloyanduseautothermaticpistonswithcaststruts.Thecombustionchamber
istheroundre-entranttype.
Cylinderhead
Thecylinderheadsaremadeofcastironandeachcylinderhas4valves.
Thecylinderheadboltsusetheangletighteningmethodtofurtherimprovereliabilityanddurability.
Crankshaft
TUFFTRIDEsteelisusedandthegradeofeachjournaldiameterisstampedontheNo.1balanceweight.
EGRsystem
TheEGRsystemiscontrolledbytheenginecontrolmodule(ECM)basedonthecoolanttemperature,enginespeed
orengineload,andotherdata.Itpuriestheemissiongasbyrecirculatingit.
ThemaincomponentsaretheEGRvalve,EGRcooler,andsensors.
Connectingrodcapbolt
Theconnectingrodcapboltsusetheangletighteningmethodtofurtherimprovereliabilityanddurability.
Commonrailtypeelectroniccontrolinjectionsystem
Thecommonrailtypeelectroniccontrolinjectionsystemisconsistofthefuelsupplypump,whichsuppliesfuelatthe
targetpressurevaluesetforhighpressurefuel,thecommonrail,whichmeasuresthehigh-pressurefuel,andthefuel
injector,whichturnsthefuelintoanemistandinjectit.

Fuelinjector

closingtheelectromagneticvalveattheinjectorheadportion.
TheECMcorrectsforvarianceinfuelinjectionquantitybetweenthefuelinjectorsaccordingtotheIDcodedatain
memory.
