protectivegoggles.Individualswithchronicrespiratoryillnesses,asthma,bronchialproblems,orahistoryofallergic
illnessesmustnotworkwithorbeinproximitytouncuredmaterials.
Components,fumes,andaerosolcloudscancauseirritationandsensitizationreactions,andmaybetoxicorharmful.
Youmustapplythesematerialswithadequaterespiratoryprotectionandadequateventilation.Donotremovethe
respiratorwhenyouhavenishedspraying.Keeptherespiratoronuntilthefumesandcloudsdisperse.
Burninguncuredcomponentsandcuredfoamscangeneratetoxicandharmfulfumes.Donotpermitsmoking,the
presenceofnakedames,ortheuseofelectricalequipmentduringtheapplicationoffoam,anduntilthefumes/
cloudshavedispersed.Thehotcuttingofcuredorpartiallycuredfoammustbeperformedinanenvironmentwitha
ventilationsystemwithextraction.
Kerosene(Parafn)
Ingestingkerosenecancauseirritationtothemouthandthroat.Thegreatestdangerfromingestingkeroseneisthe
possibilityofbreathingitintothelungs.Liquidcontactdriestheskinandcancauseirritationordermatitis.Splashes
ontheskinandintheeyescausemildirritation.
Avoidcontactwiththeeyesandtheskinasfaraspossibleandensurethatthereisadequateventilation.
Fueloil(dieselfuel)
Whenthequantitiesarelargeortheexposureperiodislong,skincontactwithfueloilswithahighboilingpointcan
causeseriousskindiseases,includingskincancer.
Gascylinders
Seere.Ingeneral,gases,suchasoxygen,carbondioxide,argon,andpropane,arestoredincylinderswithpres-
suresofupto140bar(2000lb/in2).Youneedtotakesufcientcarewhenhandlingthemtopreventphysicaldamage
tothecylindersandthevalveaccessories.Thecontentofeachcylindermustbeclearlyidentiedwithsuitablelabels.
Youmuststorethecylindersinawell-ventilatedroom,protectedfromice,rain,anddirectsunlight.Youmustnotstore
combustiblegasesneartooxygencylinders.
Becarefultopreventleaksfromthecylindersandthegaslines,andtoavoidignitionsources.Onlyqualiedpersonnel
mayperformservicesusingthecylinders.
Generalworkshopequipmentandtools
Youmustkeepallequipmentandtoolsingoodconditionandyoumustusethecorrectsafetyequipmentwhenever
necessary.
Neverusetoolsorequipmentforanypurposeotherthanthatforwhichtheyareintended.Neveroverloadequipment
suchashoists,jacks,chassisbasesandaxles,orhoistingslings.Thedamagecausedbyoverloadingdoesnot
alwaysappearimmediatelyandcouldcauseafatalaccidentthenexttimethattheequipmentisused.
Donotusefaultyordamagedequipmentortools,particularlyhigh-speedequipment,suchasemerywheels.Adam-
agedemerywheelcandisintegratesuddenlyandcauseseriousinjury.Useprotectivegoggleswheneveryouuse
equipmentforgrinding,cutting,polishing,orsandblasting.
Oiltestequipment,lubricationtestequipment,andhigh-pressureairtestequipment,in
accordancewithlocallegislation
Alwayskeephigh-pressureequipmentingoodconditionandcarryoutregularmaintenance,particularlyonconnec-
tionsandttings.Neverpointahigh-pressurenozzleattheskinastheuidcancauseseriousinjuries.
