Lubricantsandgreases
Avoidprolongedorrecurrentcontactwithmineraloils,particularlyusedoils.
Thoroughlywashtheskinaftertasksusingoil.Donotusegasoline,parafn,orothersolventstoremoveoilfromthe
skin.Lubricantsandgreasescancausemildeyeirritation.
Youmustavoidrepeatedorprolongedskincontactbywearingprotectiveclothingwherenecessary.Donotallowyour
workclothestobecomecontaminatedwithoil.Washordrycleanworkclothesregularly.Discardoil-soakedshoes.
Donotuseusedengineoilasalubricantorforapplicationswhereitmightcomeintocontactwiththeskin.
Paints
Youshouldpreferablyperformsprayinginaventilatedcabwithanexhaustsystemtoremovethefumesandspray
fromthebreathingarea.Individualsworkingincabsmustuserespiratoryprotection.Personnelcarryingoutsmall-
scalerepairworkmustuserespiratorswithanairsupply.
Solvents
Contactdriesouttheskin,andprolongedorrecurrentcontactcancauseirritationanddermatitis.Somecanbe
absorbedthroughtheskinintoxicorharmfulquantities.Splashesintotheeyescancauseseriousirritationandeven
leadtoblindness.
Wearprotectivesleeves,protectivegogglesandprotectiveclothing.Ensurethatthereisgoodventilationduringuse,
avoidinhalingsmoke,fumes,andsprayclouds,andkeepcontainerssecurelyclosed.Donotuseinenclosedspaces.
Donotapplyheatorame,exceptinaccordancewithspecicanddetailedinstructionsfromthemanufacturer.
Arcwelding
Thisprocessemitsahighlevelofultravioletradiationthatcanburntheeyesandskinofthewelderandofother
peoplenearby.Gas-protectedweldingprocessesareparticularlydangerousinthisrespect.Personalprotectionis
mandatory.Barrierstoprotectotherpeoplearealsonecessary.Youalsoneedtousesuitableeyeandskinprotection
becauseofmetalsplashes.
Theheatofarcweldingwillproducegasesandfumesfromthemetalsthatarebeingmelted,andfromthecoatings
appliedtoorcontaminationontheworkedsurfaces.Thesegasesandfumesmaybetoxicandyoumustavoidinhaling
them.Youmayneedtouseventilationwithextractiontoremovesmokefromtheworkarea,particularlyincaseswhere
thereisnotenoughgeneralventilationorinplaceswhereaconsiderableamountofweldingisexpectedtotakeplace.
Inextremecases,whereadequateventilationcannotbeguaranteed,youmayneedtouserespiratorswithanair
supply.
