Inserting and Ejecting a Diskette
The following describes how to insert a diskelte into the disk drive
and how to eject it
To insert a diskette into the floppy disk drive
1. with the labet area af the diskette facing up, irsert
the diskette shutter first into the disk drive, as shown
in the illustration.
2,
Slide
the
diskette
into
the
drive
as
far
as
it
will
go,
until it clicks
into place.
To eject a diskette from the floppy disk drive
IMPORTANT!
Before
ojacting
a
diskette,
always
check
to
make
sure
that
the
ac-
cess
lamp
is
nat
lit
or
flashing.
A
lit
or
‘lashing
access
lamp
means
that
ina
piano
is
perlorming
a
data read
or
write
operation,
Ejacting
a
disketie
while it is being accessed
can cause
its data ta become
cor-
rupted.

Basic Diskette Operation
The following is the basic procedure when using 2 diskette
1. insert a diskette into the piano’s disk drive.
2. Press the DISK button.
+ This causes the indicator lamp above the DISK button to light,
which indicates the SMF Play Mode. See “Playing Back an
SMF" on page E-65 for details on using this mode.
3. Press the DISK button again to display the first disk
operation screen,

4. scroll through the disk operation screens.
+ Use the [&] and [¥] CURSOR keys to serull through the four
available screens.

* DiskLoad ... Use this screen to load a file created with the
piano. See “To load piano data from a diskette” on page E

+ Unity ... Use this screen to access utilities that let you con-
vert rhythun data, delete data from a diskette, and format a
diskette. See “Using the Utilities” on page E-68

Playing Back an SMF
SMF
(standard
MIDI
file)
is
a
data
format
that
makes
1
possible
to
MIDI data between
sequencers
and synthesizers
of different
type
ind
brand.
There
are
actually
three
different
SMF
formats,
named
0,
1, and 2. This piano supports
SMF Format
0, which
as the most com-
moo. Most synthesizers,
sequencers,
and cornmercially
avatiable
pre-
recorded
software
and MIDI files use SMF Format
0.
The built in disk drive of the piano
lets you play back files created
with a persoral
computer
or other device
and saved
to diskette
To play a specific file from diskette

Insert

diskette
that
contains
the
file
into

disk drive.
* The diskette
labeled
“DISK-2”
that comes
with the piano
contains
files you can use for this procedure.

Press
the
DISK
button.

This
causes
the
indicator

the
DISK
button

light,
which
indicates

SMF

this
time
the
name
of
one
of
the
files
contained
on
the
diskette
appears
on
the
display.
3. Use the [+] and [+1 buttons to select the file you want
to play.

5. To stop tile play, press the START/STOP button again.
+ File play also stops automatically when the end of the file «s
reached.
INOTER
Attor you stop ‘ile play part way through by aressing the START/STOP
button, you can exit the file play mode by pressing the DISK button twice.
To play back all files on a diskette
Insert the diskette that contains the files into the piano’s disk drive.
PREPARATION
The diskette that comes with the piano contains files you can use for *his
procedure
1. Press the DISK button twice.
* This causes the “Option” disk opecation screen to appear on
the display. The indicator lamp above the DISK button flashes
at this time.

5. To stop SMF play, press the START/STOP button again.
* If you do not press the START/STOP button, SMF play plays
one file after the other in an endless loop.

Aitor you stop SMF piay part way tnrough by pressing the START/STOP
button, you can exit he disk operation screen by pressing the DISK bution
twice.
