Alarms
You can set up to five independent multi-function alarms
with hour, minutes, month, and day. When an alarm is
turned on, the alarm tone sounds when the alarm time is
reached. One of the alarms has a snooze feature.
You can also turn on an Hourly Time Signal that causes
the watch to beep every hour on the hour.
x There are five alarms numbered 1 through 5. The
Hourly Time Signal screen is indicated by :00.
x All of the operations in this section are performed
in the Alarm Mode, which you enter by pressing C
(page E-4).

To toggle between 12-hour and 24-hour timekeeping
In the Timekeeping Mode, press D to toggle between 12-hour timekeeping and
24-hour timekeeping.
x With the 12-hour format, the P (PM) indicator appears to the left of the hour
digits for times in the range of noon to 11:59 p.m. and no indicator appears to
the left of the hour digits for times in the range of midnight to 11:59 a.m.
x With the 24-hour format, times are displayed in the range of 0:00 to 23:59,
without any indicator.
x The 12-hour/24-hour timekeeping format you select in the Timekeeping Mode is
applied in all other modes.

3. When the setting you want to change is flashing, press D to change it as
described below.

Press D to reset to 00.
Hour, Minutes, Year, Month, Day
Press D to increase the setting.
x Pressing D while the seconds are in the range of 30 to 59 resets them to 00
and adds 1 to the minutes. In the range of 00 to 29, the minutes are unchanged.
4. Press A to exit the setting screen.
x The day of the week is automatically displayed in accordance with the date
(year, month, and day) settings.
x The year can be set in the range of 2000 to 2099.
x The watch’s built-in full automatic calendar automatically makes allowances for
different month lengths and leap years. Once you set the date, there should be
no reason to change it except after you have the watch’s battery replaced.

Timekeeping
Use the Timekeeping Mode to set and view the current
time and date.
To set the time and date
1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down A until the
seconds start to flash, which indicates the setting
screen.
2. Press C to move the flashing in the sequence shown
below to select other settings.

Overview

This document describes the operation and features of the CASIO Operation Guide 3487, a multi-function digital watch.

Function Description

The watch offers several modes to manage time and other functions:

  • Timekeeping Mode: Displays the current time (hour, minutes, seconds) and date (month, day, day of the week). It allows setting the time and date, and toggling between 12-hour and 24-hour formats. The built-in full automatic calendar adjusts for different month lengths and leap years.

Usage Features

  • Mode Navigation: Pressing the 'C' button changes from mode to mode. Holding down the 'A' button for about one second returns to the Timekeeping Mode from any other mode.
  • Display Illumination: Pressing the 'B' button illuminates the display for about one second in any mode.
  • Setting Operations: Button operations are indicated by letters (A, B, C, D) corresponding to the physical buttons on the watch. Holding down the 'A' button typically initiates a setting screen, indicated by flashing digits. The 'D' button is generally used to scroll through settings or increase values.
  • Time and Date Setting: In Timekeeping Mode, hold 'A' until seconds flash. Use 'C' to move flashing between seconds, hour, minutes, year, month, and day. Use 'D' to change values. Press 'A' to exit.
  • 12/24-Hour Format: In Timekeeping Mode, press 'D' to toggle between 12-hour (with 'P' indicator for PM) and 24-hour formats. This setting applies to all modes.
  • Alarm Setting: In Alarm Mode, use 'D' to select an alarm (1-5) or the Hourly Time Signal (:00). Hold 'A' to enter setting mode. Use 'C' to move flashing between hour, minutes, month, and day. Use 'D' to change values. Press 'A' to exit. Setting '-' for month or day creates daily, monthly, or 1-month alarms.
  • Alarm Operation: Alarm tones sound for 10 seconds. Snooze alarm repeats every five minutes for a total of seven times. Any button press stops the alarm tone. Certain operations (like entering Timekeeping Mode setting screen or Alarm 1 setting screen) cancel snooze.
  • Alarm Test: In Alarm Mode, hold 'D' to sound the alarm.
  • Turning Alarms On/Off: For Alarms 2-5 and Hourly Time Signal, select the desired alarm/signal with 'D', then press 'A' to toggle on/off. Indicators show status in all modes.
  • Alarm 1 Operation Selection: For Alarm 1, use 'D' to select it, then press 'A' to cycle through Snooze On, Alarm On, and Alarm Off.
  • Countdown Timer Usage: In Countdown Timer Mode, press 'D' to start/pause the timer. Press 'A' to stop and reset to the starting value.
  • Countdown Timer Setting: In Countdown Timer Mode, hold 'A' until hours flash. Use 'C' to move flashing between hours and minutes. Use 'D' to increase values. Set 0:00 for 24 hours. Press 'A' to exit.
  • Countdown Timer Auto-Repeat: In Countdown Timer Mode, hold 'A' until hours flash, then press 'B' to toggle auto-repeat on/off. The auto-repeat indicator appears when on.
  • Stopwatch Usage: In Stopwatch Mode, 'D' starts/stops the timer, 'A' resets it. For split times, 'A' records split, 'D' stops. For two finishes, 'A' records first runner, 'D' stops second, 'A' displays second, then 'A' resets.
  • Dual Time Setting: In Dual Time Mode, hold 'A' until hour flashes. Use 'C' to move flashing between hour and minutes. Use 'D' to increase values. Press 'A' to exit.
  • Auto Return Feature: If a setting screen is left idle for two or three minutes, the watch automatically saves settings and exits the screen.
  • Data Scrolling: Holding down the 'D' button during a scroll operation scrolls through data at high speed.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Life: The watch is powered by one CR2025 lithium battery, with an approximate battery life of 10 years, assuming typical alarm and backlight usage.
  • Calendar Maintenance: The full automatic calendar requires no adjustment for month lengths or leap years once the initial date is set, except after battery replacement.
  • Backlight Precautions:
