Usage Features

The hobs are operated via touch controls, requiring a gentle touch with the ball of the finger. For models with control knobs, these are used to adjust power levels.

General Operation:

  • Switching On/Off: The appliance is turned on and off using a dedicated ON/OFF key. For control knob models, individual knobs are turned to "OFF".
  • Power Level Adjustment: Power levels are adjusted using MINUS and PLUS keys (or control knobs).
  • Hot Surface Indicator: An "H" or red light will display when a cooking zone is hot, even after being switched off, as a residual heat warning.
  • Cookware Compatibility (Induction Hobs): Only ferromagnetic cookware is suitable. A magnet test can verify suitability. Cookware with smooth, flat bases that match the cooking zone size should be used. Jagged edges or curved bases are not recommended.

Optional Functions:

  • Child Lock: Prevents unintended use by locking the controls. Activated by touching the Childlock key until "Lo" appears, and unlocked by holding the key for 3 seconds. The main switch remains functional for emergency shutdown.
  • Extendable Zone: Available on some models, allowing the use of a center zone only or an extended zone (center + outer heating circuits). Activated by selecting the zone and then the extendable zone key.
  • Boost Function: Provides rapid heating for a cooking zone. Activated by selecting the zone and touching the BOOST key, indicated by "P". The boost function typically lasts for 5 minutes before automatically reverting to level 9.
  • Timer: Can be used as a minute minder or a cut-off timer for one or more cooking zones, with a maximum setting of 99 minutes.
    • Minute Minder: Set when no cooking zone is selected. A signal sounds when the time expires.
    • Cut-off Timer: Set for a specific cooking zone. The zone automatically switches off when the time expires. A red dot next to the power level indicator shows the zone is in timer mode.
  • Pause Function: Temporarily stops all heating while retaining settings. Activated by the pause function key, indicated by "||". Reverting to original settings is done by touching the key again. If not canceled within 30 minutes, the hob automatically switches off.

Cooking Guidelines:

  • Reduce power settings once food boils.
  • Use lids to reduce cooking times and save energy.
  • Minimize liquid or fat for faster cooking.
  • Start cooking on high power and reduce once food is heated.
  • Heat settings are provided for various cooking tasks, from delicate warming (1-2) to sautéing and boiling pasta (7-8).

Maintenance Features

Care and Cleaning:

  • General Cleaning: Switch off the hob. Apply a hob cleaner to the warm (not hot) glass, rinse, and wipe dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.
  • Boilovers, Melts, Sugary Spills: Immediately remove with a fish slice, palette knife, or razor blade scraper suitable for ceramic glass hobs. Switch off the power at the wall, scrape the spill to a cool area, and clean with a dishcloth.
  • Spillovers on Touch Controls: Switch off power, remove spills, wipe with a damp sponge, and dry completely with a paper towel.
  • Important Notes:
    • Cooking zones may remain hot even when the hob is switched off.
    • Avoid heavy-duty scourers, some nylon scourers, and harsh/abrasive cleaning agents as they can scratch the glass.
    • Never leave cleaning residue on the hob.
    • Remove stains from melts and sugary food as soon as possible to prevent permanent damage.
    • Exercise extreme caution with razor-sharp scraper blades and store them safely.
    • Ensure the touch control area is dry to prevent beeping or malfunction.

Troubleshooting and Error Codes: The manual includes a "Questions and quick check" section to address common issues like unresponsive controls, scratched glass, or unusual noises. It also lists error codes for both ceramic and induction hobs, along with possible causes and recommended actions.

  • Common Error Codes:
    • E0 (Ceramic/Induction): Overheating protection or IGBT Overheat. Stop cooking until temperature normalizes, or check if the fan is working.
    • E1 (Ceramic/Induction): Open circuit failure of thermocouple (ceramic) or Signal lost (PCB failure) (induction). Contact sales service.
    • E2/E3 (Induction): Abnormal high/low input voltage. Wait for voltage to normalize or contact service center.
    • E4/E5/E6 (Induction): Thermistor failure. Contact service center.
    • E7 (Induction): Abnormal high temperature (dry burning). Cut off power, wait 30 minutes, and switch on. If still not working, contact service.
    • E8/E9 (Induction): Failure of IGBT sensor. Contact service center.
    • EE (Induction): Display PCB failure. Contact service center.
  • Warning: Users are advised not to disassemble the unit themselves to avoid danger.

Installation: Installation must be performed by qualified personnel or technicians. The hob should not be mounted above cooling equipment, dishwashers, or rotary dryers. Proper heat radiation must be ensured. The wall and heating zone above the work surface must withstand heat. Sandwich layers and adhesives must be heat-resistant. Steam cleaners are not to be used. The ceramic hob can be connected to a supply with system impedance no more than 0.427 ohm.

Electrical Connection: The power supply should comply with relevant standards. If the cable is damaged, it must be replaced by an after-sales technician. For direct connection to the mains supply, an omnipolar circuit breaker with a minimum 3mm gap between contacts must be installed. The installer must ensure correct electrical connection and compliance with safety regulations. The cable must not be bent or compressed and should be checked regularly.

Disposal: The appliance is labeled according to European directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE). It should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste but taken to a collection point for recycling electrical and electronic goods. Contact local authorities or the place of purchase for detailed information on treatment, recovery, and recycling.
