Overview

This document describes the CCEI 12/13/14VAC Power Supply, a device designed for safely powering pool lights. The manual covers installation, operation, technical specifications, and safety warnings.

Function Description

The CCEI 12/13/14VAC Power Supply serves as a transformer to provide low-voltage alternating current (AC) for swimming pool lighting systems. It converts a standard 120VAC 60Hz input into a selectable output of 12VAC, 13VAC, or 14VAC, depending on the model and wiring configuration. This flexibility allows for voltage adjustment to compensate for cable length and ensure optimal performance of pool lights. The device is equipped with a circuit breaker on the front to protect the installation from overcurrents, automatically disconnecting power in case of a surcharge. To re-arm the breaker, it simply needs to be pushed a few minutes after the break.

Important Technical Specifications

Model Variants:

  • PF10V200: Maximum output power of 75VA.
  • PF10V201: Maximum output power of 150VA.

Electrical Requirements:

  • Input Voltage: 120VAC, 60Hz.
  • Output Voltage: 12VAC, 13VAC, 14VAC (selectable via wiring).
  • Maximum Overcurrent Protection: 15A.

Cable Gauge and Length Tables (for different consumed power levels):

The manual provides detailed tables for selecting the appropriate cable gauge (AWG) and output voltage (12V, 13V, 14V) based on the cable length and the consumed power of the pool lights. These tables are crucial for minimizing voltage drop and ensuring efficient operation.

  • For 1/3 of rated power (25VA for PF10V200 or 50VA for PF10V201):

    • 10m (33ft): AWG18, AWG16, AWG14, AWG12, AWG10 all support #1(12V).
    • 25m (83ft): AWG18, AWG16 support #2(13V); AWG14, AWG12, AWG10 support #1(12V).
    • 50m (165ft): AWG18, AWG16 support #3(14V); AWG14 supports #2(13V); AWG12, AWG10 support #1(12V).

Usage Features

Installation:

  • Wall Mounting: The supply box must be securely fixed to a flat and stable wall using the 3 supplied screws and pegs.
  • Safety Distance: For safety and compliance with local directives and NEC, the supply box must be installed either:
    • More than 3.5 m (11.5 ft) away from the edge of the pool, measured taking into account any obstacles. If installed behind a wall, this distance includes the path around the wall to reach the box.
    • In an underground room in close proximity to the pool, provided the room is accessible by a trap door that requires a tool to open.
  • Electrical Connection: Installation involves electrical shock hazards and should be performed by a professional installer. Incorrect installation can damage the product and connected equipment. The box is designed to resist projected water but must not be placed in areas prone to flooding. To maintain water-tightness, the two screws on the front cover must be tightly fastened. The green wire on the primary side must be connected to the earth conductor. The manual includes clear diagrams illustrating the wiring for 12VAC, 13VAC, and 14VAC outputs, showing connections for mains 120VAC input and low voltage output to multiple lights.
  • Packaged Content: Each unit comes with one 12/13/14VAC power supply, one bag containing 5 rapid connectors, and 3 screws and 3 dowels for wall mounting.

Operation:

  • Power On/Off: The supply box features a switch to power on the socket.
  • Circuit Breaker: An integrated circuit breaker on the front of the box protects the installation from overloads. In case of a surcharge, it automatically disconnects the power output. To re-arm the breaker, simply push it after a few minutes following the break.

Maintenance Features

Safety Warnings (General):

  • Qualified Personnel: This product must be installed and maintained by an authorized and qualified engineer specializing in pool equipment.
  • Electrical Safety: Always disconnect the power supply before opening the service cover. Only connect to a circuit protected by a GFCI.
  • Child Safety: Keep the apparatus out of reach of children and individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capacities.
