Overview

The CENTER 316 is a digital humidity and temperature meter designed for accurate environmental measurements. It features a dual display, allowing for simultaneous viewing of humidity and temperature readings.

Function Description:

The primary function of the CENTER 316 is to measure both relative humidity and ambient temperature. It can also calculate and display wet bulb temperature and dew point temperature, providing a comprehensive understanding of atmospheric conditions. The device is portable and designed for ease of use in various settings.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Display: Dual display for simultaneous readings.
  • Measurement Ranges:
    • Humidity: 0%RH to 99%RH
    • Temperature: -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F)
    • Wet Bulb Temperature: -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F)
    • Dew Point Temperature: -20°C to 60°C (-4°F to 140°F)
  • Accuracy (at 23°C ± 5°C):
    • Humidity (5% RH ~ 95% RH): ±3% RH
    • Temperature (-20°C ~ 60°C): ±0.8°C
    • Temperature (-4°F ~ 140°F): ±1.6°F
  • Resolution: 0.1%RH, 0.1°C / 0.1°F
  • Response Time (@ t90; in slowly moving air):
    • Humidity: 180 seconds
    • Temperature: 10 seconds
  • Operating Conditions: 0°C to 40°C; <80% RH
  • Storage Conditions: -10°C to 60°C; <70% RH
  • Altitude: Up to 2000 meters
  • Sample Rate: 2.5 times per second
  • Battery: 9 V Battery (NEDA 1604, JIS 006P, or IEC6F22)
  • Battery Life: 85 hours continuous (with alkaline battery)
  • Dimensions: 240 x 54 x 34 mm (9.5 x 2.1 x 1.3 inches)
  • Weight: Approximately 180g (6.4 oz.)
  • Accessories: Battery, instruction manual

Usage Features:

  • Power-Up/Off: The device is turned on or off by pressing the dedicated ON/OFF button.
  • Temperature Unit Selection: Users can switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F) by pressing the "°C/°F" button. The meter remembers the last selected unit upon power-off.
  • Data-Hold Operation: The "HOLD" button allows users to freeze the current reading on the display. Pressing it again releases the hold. While in Data Hold mode, "REL", "MAX/MIN", and "°C/°F" buttons are disabled.
  • DP/WB/Ambient Temperature Operation: The meter defaults to displaying ambient temperature. Pressing the "DP/WB" button once shows dew point (DP) temperature, and pressing it again switches to wet bulb (WB) temperature. A third press returns to ambient temperature. The display clearly indicates when dew point or wet bulb temperature is selected.
  • MAX/MIN Operation: The "MAX/MIN" button activates a mode that records and updates the maximum and minimum values simultaneously.
    • Pressing "MAX/MIN" once displays the maximum value with a "MAX" indicator.
    • Pressing "MAX/MIN" again displays the minimum value with a "MIN" indicator.
    • A third press causes both "MAX" and "MIN" indicators to blink, indicating that the displayed reading is the current temperature and humidity, and the stored MAX/MIN data has been updated.
    • To exit MAX/MIN mode, press and hold the "MAX/MIN" button for two seconds.
    • In MAX/MIN mode, the "°C/°F" buttons are disabled.
  • Auto Power Off: By default, the meter has an auto power-off feature that turns off the device after 30 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life. This feature can be disabled by pressing and holding the "HOLD" button while powering on the meter. The auto power-off symbol on the display will disappear to confirm it's disabled.

Maintenance Features:

  • Low Battery Indication: A battery symbol will appear on the LCD when the battery voltage is low, indicating that the battery needs to be replaced.
  • Optional Accessories: The device supports optional humidity standards (33%RH and 75%RH) for calibration or verification purposes, ensuring continued accuracy.

The CENTER 316 is a robust and user-friendly instrument suitable for professionals requiring reliable humidity and temperature measurements. Its clear display, multiple measurement modes, and practical features make it an efficient tool for environmental monitoring.
