The CENTER 510 is a digital Carbon Monoxide (CO) meter designed for detecting and measuring CO concentrations and temperature. It is a portable, handheld device that provides readings on an LCD and emits an audible beeper tone to indicate the presence of CO.
The primary function of the CENTER 510 is to detect and measure carbon monoxide (CO) levels in parts per million (ppm) and ambient temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit. It utilizes an electrochemical carbon monoxide gas sensor for CO detection and a thermistor for temperature measurement. The device is designed for ease of use, allowing users to quickly identify CO presence and concentration.
Upon power-up, the meter performs a self-test. During this test, the display counts down from "60" to "0" while emitting a beeper sound. If the self-test is successful, the meter begins monitoring. If the meter detects between 0-3 ppm of CO, the LCD readings will decrease from an initial value to zero. Readings are displayed when the meter detects more than 3 ppm of CO. If the self-test fails, the LCD will show "Err," and the meter will not take CO measurements.
The device incorporates an alarm system to alert users to elevated CO levels. The beeper tone's frequency increases with higher CO concentrations. Above 200 ppm, the beeper sounds continuously, with the tone's frequency still increasing with CO concentration. If CO levels exceed 1000 ppm, the beeper sounds continuously at its highest frequency, and the LCD displays "OL" to indicate an out-of-range condition. The high CO alarm threshold is programmable, with a default setting of 35 ppm, and can be adjusted by the user within a range of 0 to 1000 ppm.
The CENTER 510 is equipped with several buttons for controlling its various functions:
The meter features an auto power-off function, which is enabled by default. If no key operation is performed for 30 minutes, the meter will automatically power off to conserve battery life. This feature can be disabled by pressing and holding the HOLD button while powering on the meter; the auto power-off symbol will disappear from the display to indicate it is disabled.
A beeper can be muted by pressing and holding the backlight button while powering on the meter. The mute beeper icon will appear on the display. To re-enable the beeper, the meter must be turned off and then back on.
The CENTER 510 includes a battery capacity indication on the LCD, allowing users to monitor the remaining battery life. When the battery voltage falls below the proper operating requirement, a flashing battery symbol will appear on the LCD, indicating that the batteries need to be replaced.
Battery Replacement: The meter uses four AA/R6 batteries. To replace them, the screw at the bottom of the battery door needs to be backed out, and the door lifted away. The old batteries can then be removed, and four new AA batteries should be inserted, observing proper polarity as depicted on the bottom of the battery compartment. Finally, the battery door should be closed and the screw tightened to secure it.
Calibration and Service: The manufacturer recommends that the meter be calibrated once a year by an authorized service center to ensure accuracy. Under normal use, the meter does not require user adjustments. Any necessary adjustments are made during calibration. If the sensor needs replacement, users should contact an authorized service center.
The device is designed for durability and includes a carrying case for protection and portability.
