What to do if Thermal Overload Light is on in Chicago Electric Welding System?
    • R
      Randy MorrisonAug 4, 2025
The Thermal Overload light turns on due to several reasons: * The internal fan may not be working: have a qualified technician inspect and repair/replace it as necessary. * There may be bad ventilation: improve ventilation in the welding area. * You may not be observing the Duty Cycle: the welder will automatically shut down if it overheats. Allow the internal fan to cool the welder, and when the Thermal Overload light extinguishes, you may continue welding.

Why is my Chicago Electric Welding System arc strength weak?
    • D
      Dr. Jacqueline BryantAug 11, 2025
A weak arc strength can be caused by incorrect line voltage, so check the line voltage and have a licensed electrician remedy the situation if it's insufficient. It can also be caused by an improper gauge or length of cord. Do not use an extension cord on this Welder. Use only one of the supplied power cords for this Welder or an identical replacement cord.

What to do if Chicago Electric Welding System power indicator does not light?
    • C
      christina09Aug 19, 2025
If the power indicator doesn't light up, there could be several reasons: * The unit might not be properly connected to the outlet: verify the voltage and the connection. * The outlet could be unpowered: check the circuit breaker/GFCI devices and reset if tripped after determining and fixing the cause. * The circuit may supply insufficient input voltage or amperage: verify that the circuit is designed to supply the required input amperage. * The circuit breaker may have tripped due to high input amperage: press the Reset Button to reset the circuit breaker.

Why is the welding arc not stable on my Chicago Electric 64057 Welding System?
    • N
      Nancy ConleyAug 27, 2025
An unstable welding arc can be caused by a loose Electrode Holder cable or ground cable, so check to ensure that all connections are tight. It can also be caused by a damaged Electrode Holder or loose connection within the Electrode Holder, in which case you should have a qualified technician inspect and repair/replace it as necessary. Finally, make sure the current setting matches the recommended setting on the chart.
