Overview

This document describes the Chicco Mokita i-Size car seat, designed for children with a height between 76 and 150 cm. It is approved under ECE R 129/03.

Function Description:

The Chicco Mokita i-Size is an advanced child restraint system that adapts to the child's growth, offering two main configurations:

  1. i-SIZE Universal ISOFIX (76-105 cm, >15 months, max. 18 kg): In this configuration, the car seat uses the vehicle's ISOFIX anchor points and a Top Tether strap for secure installation. It includes a reducer cushion for smaller children.
  2. i-SIZE Booster Seat (100-150 cm): For older and taller children, the car seat transitions to a booster seat, which can be installed using ISOFIX and the vehicle's 3-point safety harness, or with just the vehicle's 3-point safety harness if ISOFIX is not available.

The car seat is designed for forward-facing travel.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: Detailed instructions with illustrations (Fig. 4-13 for 76-105 cm, Fig. 14-21 for configuration change, Fig. 22-39 for 100-150 cm) are provided for correct installation.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always read the entire instruction manual before installation and keep it for future reference.
    • Ensure all plastic bags and packaging materials are removed and kept away from children.
    • Consult local authorities for specific safety laws and regulations regarding child transportation in cars.
    • Only adults should perform adjustments to the car seat.
    • Never leave the child unattended in the car.
    • Do not transport more than one child at a time in the car seat.
    • Avoid giving food on sticks (lollies, ice lollies) to the child during travel to prevent injury in case of an accident or sudden braking.
    • Make frequent stops during long trips to allow the child to move around.
    • Check that the car seat's headrest does not interfere with the vehicle's headrest; if it does, remove the vehicle's headrest.
    • Replace the car seat after any accident, even a minor one, as it may have suffered unseen damage.
    • Do not use second-hand or damaged/deformed car seats.
    • Do not remove labels or logos from the product.
    • The fabric cover is an integral part of the car seat and must only be replaced with an approved cover from the manufacturer. Never use the car seat without its fabric cover.
    • Do not modify or add accessories/parts not supplied or approved by the manufacturer.
    • Do not place anything (pillows, blankets, etc.) between the car seat and the vehicle seat or between the child and the car seat.
    • Ensure no objects are positioned between the car seat and the vehicle seat or the car door.
    • Do not transport loose or unsecured objects in the vehicle, especially on the rear shelf.
    • Ensure all vehicle passengers fasten their safety harnesses.
    • Check that vehicle seats (foldable, tiltable, or rotating) are well secured.
    • For 76-105 cm configuration, ensure the child is at least 15 months old and weighs no more than 18 kg. The vehicle's safety harness must not be fastened behind the car seat when using ISOFIX.
    • For 100-150 cm configuration, the vehicle seat must have a 3-point safety harness (static or with retractor) approved according to UN/ECE Regulation no. 16. Never install with a 2-point safety harness. Ensure the abdominal portion of the vehicle's safety harness rests correctly on the child's waist.
    • If using in vehicles with rear seat belts with integrated airbags (inflatable seat belts), follow the car manufacturer's instructions.
    • If the vehicle does not have ISOFIX anchorage, the car seat can be installed front-facing with a 3-point vehicle harness only in the 100-150 cm configuration.
    • The car seat can be fitted on the front passenger seat or any rear seat, but never on seats facing sideways or opposite to the direction of travel.
    • Ensure the vehicle's 3-point belt buckle is not too high.

Maintenance Features:

  • Fabric Cover Cleaning:
    • The fabric cover is completely removable and washable by hand or machine at 30°C.
    • The reducer cushion is hand-wash only.
    • Follow the washing symbols on the fabric label: hand wash, machine wash at 30°C, do not bleach, do not tumble dry, do not iron, do not dry clean.
    • Never use abrasive detergents or solvents. Do not spin dry the cover; let it air dry without squeezing.
  • Plastic and Metal Parts Cleaning:
    • Clean with a damp cloth only.
    • Never use abrasive detergents or solvents.
    • Moving parts of the car seat must not be lubricated.
  • Component Integrity Check:
    • Regularly check the condition and wear of the fabric cover (padding, seams), harness straps (fraying, thickness, adjustment plate area), and plastic parts (damage, discoloration).
  • Limits on Use: Do not use the product for more than 10 years, as material alterations (e.g., due to sun exposure) may compromise its effectiveness.
  • Storing the Product: When not in use, store in a dry place, away from heat sources, dust, humidity, and direct sunlight.
  • Disposing of the Product: When the car seat no longer meets safety standards, stop using it and dispose of it at an appropriate collection point, separating different types of waste according to local regulations.
  • Warranty: The product is guaranteed against manufacturing defects under normal use as specified in the instructions. The warranty does not cover damage caused by improper use, wear, or accidental events. Refer to national laws for warranty duration.
