This document describes the H33* series of Citizen watches, which are solar-powered timepieces with radio-controlled timekeeping capabilities.
The H33* series watches are designed for accurate timekeeping through daily reception of time signals from the Japan station. They are solar-powered, meaning they convert light into electrical energy to operate, eliminating the need for battery replacement. The watches feature a comprehensive display of time (hour, minute, second hands) and provide indications for various operational states, including reception status and results.
Timekeeping and Signal Reception: The primary function is automatic time adjustment via daily time signal reception. The watch can also perform manual, on-demand reception, which takes 2-15 minutes to complete. During reception, the second hand points to "RX" (Reception-in-progress indication). Upon successful reception, the time is updated, and the second hand returns to normal movement. If reception fails, the previously set time resumes. The watch provides visual feedback on reception results: "OK" for successful reception, "NO" for failed reception, and "OFF" if the signal-reception function is deactivated.
Manual Time Adjustment: Users can manually set the time by pulling out the crown and rotating it. The second hand points to 0 second when the crown is pulled out. Rotating the crown allows for adjustment of the hour and minute hands. A quick rotation of the crown can initiate continuous hand movement for faster adjustment.
Hour Hand Adjustment (Easy Adjustment): This feature allows for quick adjustment of the hour hand, useful for overseas travel or other situations where only the hour needs to be changed. To use this, the crown is pushed in, and the upper right button (B) is pressed and released. The second hand moves to indicate that the hour is adjustable. The crown can then be rotated to set the hour. It is recommended to deactivate signal reception before using this feature to prevent unexpected changes to Japan time.
Deactivating/Activating Signal Reception: The signal reception function can be deactivated to prevent unnecessary time adjustments. This is done by pushing in the crown and pressing and holding the lower right button (A) for 7 seconds or more until the second hand points to "OFF". To reactivate, the same procedure is followed, and the second hand will point to "RX" before returning to normal movement.
Reference Position Correction: The watch includes a function to check and correct the reference positions of the hands (hour, minute, and second). The correct reference position for all hands is 0 hour 00 minute 0 second. If the hands are not aligned to these positions, they can be corrected. This involves pushing in the crown, pressing and holding the upper right button (B) for 5 seconds or more, pulling out the crown after the hands stop moving, rotating the crown to adjust the hands, and then pushing in the crown. After correction, the time should be adjusted manually or by receiving time signals.
