a battery charger

essentialtomaintainanadequatestateof
charge.
Insomecircumstancesitmaybenecessaryto
chargethebattery:
- ifyouuseyourvehicleessentiallyforshort
journeys,
- ifthevehicleistobetakenofftheroadfor
severalweeks.

workshop.
Itisnotnecessarytodisconnectthe
battery.
Nevertrytochargeafrozenbattery.
If the battery has been frozen, have
itcheckedbyaCITROËNdealerora
qualifiedworkshop,whowillcheckthat
theinternalcomponentshavenotbeen
damagedandthecasingisnotcracked,
whichcouldcausealeakoftoxicand
corrosiveacid.
Ifyouenvisagechargingyourvehicle's
batteryyourself,useonlyacharger
compatiblewithlead-acidbatteriesofa
nominalvoltageof12V.
If this label is present, it is essential
touseonlya12Vcharger,toavoid
causingirreversibledamagetothe
electricalcomponentsrelatedtothe
Stop&Startsystem.
Followtheinstructionsforuseprovided
bythemanufacturerofthecharger.
Neverreversepolarities.

F Switchoffallelectricalconsumers(audio
system,lighting,wipers,...).
F SwitchoffthechargerBbeforeconnecting
thecablestothebattery,soastoavoidany
dangeroussparks.
F Ensurethatthechargercablesareingood
condition.
F ConnectthechargerBcablesasfollows:
- thepositive(+)redcabletothe(+)
terminalofthebatteryA,
- thenegative(-)blackcabletotheearth
point Conthevehicle.
F Attheendofthechargingoperation,switch
offthechargerBbeforedisconnectingthe
cablesfromthebatteryA.
