LowerBallJointRemoval
1.Inspecttheballjoint.Replacetheballjointifitisworn,loose,oriftherubberbootisdamaged.
1.1.RemovetheC-clipfromtheballjoint.
1.2.Pushordriveouttheballjointonthethreadedshaftside.SeefollowingNOTE.
NOTE:Theballjointispress-îš¿tandsecuredwith641Loctiteandrequiresapproximately250lb.(113.4kg)of
forcetopressitfromthecasting.
Donotloosen,adjust,orremovetheadjustableplatethatsecuresthelowerballjointunlessitmustbe
replaced.Iftheadjustmentplateisreplaced,loosened,ormoved,thecamberadjustmentmustbere-aligned.
2.Repeatstep1fortheremainingsideifnecessary.
LowerBallJointInstallation
1.Applya1/8inch(3.2mm)widebeadofLoctite641allthewayaroundthefaceoftheballjoint.Oncethe
Loctiteisapplied,slidetheballjointintothelowercontrolarmslideadjuster.Makesuretheballjointisseated
uptotheshoulder,andwipeoffanyexcessLoctite.
2.InstalltheC-clip.VerifythattheC-clipisseatedinthegrooveoftheballjoint.
3.AllowtheLoctitetosetupforatleast20minutesbeforeassemblingthefrontsuspension.SeefollowingNOTE.
NOTE:TheLoctite641willsetin20minutes,thusallowingthevehicletobedriven,andwillbecompletelycured
in24hours.
4.Repeatsteps1through3fortheremainingsideifnecessary.
LOWERA-ARMINSTALLATION
1.Installanewballjointifnecessary.SeeLowerBallJointInstallationonpage7-23.
2.InstallnewA-armframebushings(Figure7-43,Page7-23).SeefollowingNOTE.
NOTE:Theurethanebushingsîš¿ttightly.Itmaybenecessarytopressthemintoplace.Usetheassemblyboltsand
largeatwasherstodrawthebushingstogetherintheframebrackets.
3.SlidetheA-armovertheframebushings,andlocatetheboltalignment.
