The rear wheel will move closer to the left chain stay if you screw the belt
tensioner bolt in further on the left side, or loosen it a bit on the right side,
and vice versa. When the rear wheel is centered again, you have to tighten
the four screws of the slider plates again with the appropriate torque (see
chapter Tightening Torques).
Note that the chain tension can change again. After tightening, check the
belt again for the desired tension and correct it if necessary.
The correct belt tension is crucial for optimal operation of the Gates
®
Car-
bon Drive™. Too little belt tension can cause teeth to skip, with the teeth
of the belt slipping over the teeth of the rear pulley. Excessive tension can
damage the bearings in the rear hub, causing a sluggish running system
and accelerating the wear of your drive system.
If the Gates
®
Carbon ECO Tension Tester is not at hand, we recommend
using the Gates Corporation Carbon Drive™ app to acoustically measure
belt frequency to check belt tension. This is available free of charge for
Android and iOS via Google Play and the App Store, respectively. We
recommend a belt tension of approximately 45 pounds for our e-bikes,
which corresponds to an acoustic frequency of approximately 60 Hz.
For 100% correct adjustment of the belt tension, however, we recommend
that you have this done by your Coboc dealer in any case. For further infor-
mation and questions about the installation, please contact the manufactu-
rer of the belt drive or your Coboc dealer.
Adjusting the brakes
A signicant prerequisite for a safe driving is a proper adjustment for the
brakes. Never drive your Coboc e-bike, if a brake is not working or is not
properly adjusted. If you are not equipped with the skills necessary to
adjust your brakes yourself, please have them adjusted by your service
partner or local Coboc dealer.
Testing the brakes
Push your Coboc e-bike forward while pulling the rear wheel brake rmly.
The rear wheel should be blocked by the brake. Doing this with the front
wheel brake should have your rear wheel lifting off the ground. Steering
Maintainance & Care
should not have any clearance or rattle while performing this test. Both
brake levers should not be pulled through more than half way.
Aligning your brake caliper
You can minimize or x a grinding of your brake disc by realigning your
brake caliper. Should your brake disc be deformed due to external impact
however, you need to have your brake disc exchanged. Please contact
your local Coboc dealer for that.
You can align your brake caliper by loosening both screws (1). The slots wi-
thin the caliper enable for an alignment with the brake disc on the frame’s
post mount or on the post mount adapter on the fork. Make sure that the
wheel is installed in the correct position to do so.
Now you can align the caliper in a way that has it running centered bet-
ween both brake pads while not having any contact with them. Make sure
that the caliper does not move when screwing it back in.
