12 Nucleus 8 Sound Processor Guide for Clinicians
Retention options
Recipients can choose from a range of retention accessories. Clinicians should advise recipients
and their carers on which accessories best suit their needs, and demonstrate how to t and use
them.
For more information:
ꞏ See the Nucleus8 Sound Processor User Guide for a complete list of retention accessories
ꞏ See the guide that is packed with each retention accessory for tting instructions.
Note: Hybrid mode cannot be used with retention accessories, with the exception of safety lines. They
either position the sound processor o the ear, or use a custom earhook which means the acoustic
component cannot be tted.
Cochlear Earhook
The Earhook comes in three sizes (Small, Medium and Large).
Fitting tips
Consider trying the small earhook for adults for retention and discreetness.
Cochlear Hugt™
The Hugt is a tamper-resistant alternative to the standard
earhook that suits children and recipients with small ears. The
soft loop comes in ve sizes.
Warning: To avoid using a Hugt that is too tight, it is important
that clinicians and parents monitor the size of Hugt that is used,
and change to a larger Hugt as the child grows.
