17b. Changing Shoulder Harness Positions
Rear-facing - Shoulder harness straps must be through
harness slots at or just below child’s
shoulders.
- Use the top, middle or lowest sets
of harness slots for rear-facing (fig. e).
Forward-facing - Shoulder harness straps must be at or
above shoulders.
- Use only the middle or top harness slots
for forward-facing (fig. f).
- Discontinue use of car seat if child’s
shoulders are above top harness slots.
Removal of shoulder harness covers:
a. Unsnap shoulder harness covers (fig. g).
b. Remove shoulder harness covers from shoulder
harness straps (fig. h).

Forward-facing
Removal of shoulder harness straps:
a. Buckle shoulder harness and unbuckle chest clip.
b. Remove shoulder harness straps.
1. Lengthen shoulder harness straps to maximum length.
- From front of car seat, grasp shoulder harness
straps (fig. g).
- While pressing down on harness adjuster, pull
shoulder harness straps out as far as possible.
2. Rotate car seat into rear-facing position, see “Changing
Car Seat Use Position” section (fig. h).
3. Remove harness shield from back of car seat (fig. j).
- Pull tabs at top and bottom corners of harness shield
out of slots in car seat.
