Overview

The Comfort Zone 20" Turbo Fan is an indoor residential and office appliance designed to provide efficient air movement and cooling. It is not intended for industrial or other commercial applications. The fan features a robust design with aerodynamic shaped fan blades and rust-resistant construction, ensuring durability and consistent performance.

Function Description

The primary function of the Comfort Zone 20" Turbo Fan is to circulate air within a room, offering cooling and improved air movement. It operates on a 120V A.C. / 60Hz electrical system. The fan is equipped with a rotary ON/OFF switch that allows users to select from three-speed settings: 1-Low, 2-Med, and 3-High, providing flexibility in airflow intensity. A key feature is its 180° tilt capability, which enables users to direct the airflow precisely where needed for maximum comfort. This tilting mechanism uses a ratchet action to hold the fan at the desired angle, preventing it from moving past the 180° limit. The fan is designed to be lightweight, making it easy to move from one location to another. Safety is prioritized with the inclusion of safety grilles that protect users from the moving blades.

Usage Features

To operate the fan, it must be placed in an upright position on a smooth, non-combustible, level surface. It should be plugged directly into a 120-volt A.C., 60 Hz wall outlet, ensuring the plug fits tightly to prevent overheating. The fan is not recommended for use with extension cords; however, if one must be used, it should be a minimum of 14 AWG and rated not less than 1875 watts, with the plug fully inserted into its receptacle. The power cord should not be run under carpeting or covered by throw rugs, and it should be arranged away from traffic areas to prevent tripping hazards.

Starting the fan involves turning the rotary ON/OFF dial on the control panel to the desired speed setting (1-Low, 2-Med, or 3-High). To turn off the fan, the dial should be rotated to the "0 - Off" position, and the fan should be unplugged when not in use. The 180° tilt feature allows users to grasp the fan body and tilt it to direct airflow. The fan should not be forced past the 180° tilt limit.

The fan requires simple assembly before first use. The legs snap onto the fan cradle, with the short side of the base leg facing the front of the fan and the long side facing the rear (where the Rotary Speed Dial is located).

Safety Precautions

The manual emphasizes several important safety instructions. The fan is intended for use only in dry environments and should not be used in bathrooms, laundry areas, or near sinks, washing machines, swimming pools, or other water sources. It should never be placed where it could fall into a bathtub or other water receptacle. The fan motor can become hot during use, so direct contact with bare skin should be avoided to prevent burns.

Users are warned against using the fan near combustible materials, flammable gases, or sources of heat. It should not be used in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable materials are stored. Air intakes and exhaust openings should not be blocked, and foreign objects should not be inserted into these openings, as this could cause electric shock, fire, or damage to the fan. The fan should not be operated with a damaged cord or plug, or if it malfunctions, has been dropped, or is damaged in any manner, including broken blades, safety cages, or any visual imperfections.

The fan features a polarized two-prong plug, with one blade wider than the other, designed to fit into a matching, properly grounded outlet. This safety feature should not be defeated. The fan should not be used with any solid-state speed control device to reduce the risk of fire or electric shock.

Special caution is advised when the fan is used by or near children, disabled persons, or pets, and it should never be left operating unattended. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.

The product employs overload protection through a fuse. If the fuse blows, indicating an overload or short-circuit, the product should be unplugged, and the fuse replaced with an identical 2.5 or 5.0 Amp, 125 Volt fuse (3.6mm x 10mm). If the replacement fuse also blows, a short-circuit may be present, and the product should be discarded or returned for examination and/or repair. Fuse replacement involves grasping the plug, sliding open the fuse access cover on top of the attachment plug, carefully removing the old fuse with a small tool, inserting the new fuse properly, and closing the fuse cover.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning the Comfort Zone 20" Turbo Fan requires disconnecting the power cord from the plug first. The grille surface can be cleaned with a clean, damp cloth. Harsh chemical or abrasive cleaners should not be used, and the fan or any wires should not be immersed in water. The front grille must be replaced before using the fan, and it should be allowed to dry completely after cleaning. Periodic grille cleaning with a vacuum cleaner can prevent dust buildup.

The internal motor bearings are permanently lubricated at the factory and do not require any additional maintenance or lubrication from the user. The fan should not be operated without the grille in place. If the fan malfunctions or becomes damaged, it should not be used.

For storage, the fan should be kept in its original carton. The power cord should be coiled and tied to prevent damage during storage.
