Overview

This document describes the COMMAX CDP-1020ID Home Automation Videophone, a multifunctional device designed for apartments, villas, and other buildings, offering door opening, telephone conversation, and guard station control functions.

Function Description

The CDP-1020ID serves as a central hub for home automation and security. Its primary functions include:

  • Door Camera Monitoring and Talk: Allows users to view and communicate with visitors at the individual door camera.
  • Guard Station Call and Talk: Facilitates communication with the building's guard station.
  • Telephone Function: Supports telephone, extension, and neighbor talk.
  • EMS (Energy Management System): Provides remote control capabilities for Secumax (remote metering and control) and device control for lighting, gas valve, and boiler systems.
  • Security Functions: Includes settings for Security1 (Burglar1 - magnetic sensor) and Security2 (Burglar2 - PIR sensor), as well as emergency functions.
  • Delivery Notice: Allows users to check delivery notices from the guard station.
  • Away Mode Setting: Configures the device for when residents are away, activating security sensors, turning off lights, closing gas valves, and blocking standby power.
  • Household Settings: Manages household number, PIN, and extension settings.
  • Volume Control: Adjusts receiving, calling, and button tone volumes for various functions like lobby, telephone, guard, individual door, neighbor, call sound, extension, and touch/ring tone.

Usage Features

General Operation:

  • Hands-Free Conversation: Initiate or end calls by pressing the talk button.
  • Master Unit: The product is designated as a Master unit and can connect to multiple Slave units.
  • Call Overtake: If one video-phone terminal is busy, another terminal can overtake the call.
  • Emergency Notifications: In case of emergency (fire, gas, burglar), notifications are directed to all installed devices, and conversation through the videophone is forcibly terminated.

Household Setting:

  • Household No. Setting: Enter building and room numbers for identification.
  • PIN Setting: Set a 4-digit PIN for security.
  • Extension No. Setting: Configure extension numbers (2-9) for sub-phones to call the guard station.

Away Mode Setting:

  • Activation: Activate security sensors (Security1, Security2), turn off all lights, close gas valves, and block standby power.
  • Delay Time: Set a delay time (0-90 seconds) for security sensors to activate after away mode is enabled (default 60 seconds).
  • Releasing Delay Time: Set a delay time for reactivating sensors when returning home (default 0 seconds), which triggers an alarm if exceeded.

Individual Door Talk:

  • Monitoring: View the door camera feed.
  • Communication: Talk with visitors.
  • Door Release: Open the door while talking with a visitor.
  • Volume Control: Adjust receiving and call sound volumes.
  • Display Settings: Adjust color, contrast, and brightness.
  • Screen Scrolling and Zoom: Zoom in/out and drag the screen view (PTZ function available only with PTZ-enabled door cameras).

Guard Station Talk:

  • Calling: Initiate a call to the guard station.
  • Receiving Calls: Communicate with the guard station when a call is received.
  • Volume Control: Adjust receiving sound volume.

Emergency Function:

  • Activation: Press the Emergency button for more than 1 second to generate an emergency signal to the guard station with an audible alarm.
  • Release: Press the "Release" icon to stop the signal.
  • Return to Standby: Press the "Return" icon to go back to standby status after an emergency is released.

Telephone Function (Telephone/Extension/Neighbor Talk):

  • Number Registration: Register numbers for telephone, extension, and neighbor calls.
  • Making Calls: Dial numbers to call.
  • Receiving Calls: Talk when a call is received.
  • Call History: View recent call history (up to 5 calls).
  • ARS Service: Use the dial pad for ARS services.
  • Call Switching: Switch calls between different sources (individual door, lobby, guard, neighbor, extension, telephone).

EMS Function (Device Control):

  • Lighting Control: Turn lights on/off individually or all at once.
  • Gas Control: Open/close gas valves individually or all at once.
  • Boiler Control: View current and desired room temperatures, and set the desired temperature.
  • Remote Metering: Check real-time water, gas, electricity, hot water, and heat usage.

Detoured Call:

  • When away mode is activated, all calls from the lobby and individual door are detoured to the guard station.

Guard Security Function:

  • Alarm 1 (Fire): Activates a fire alarm signal to the guard station.
  • Alarm 2 (Gas): Activates a gas alarm signal to the guard station.
  • Fire Ladder Alarm: Sounds an alarm when the fire ladder is in use.
  • Security 1 & 2 (Burglar Sensor): Activates burglar alarms (police car sound) and sends signals to the guard station upon movement detection.
  • Release Security: Deactivate security settings.
  • Return Security: Return to normal security function after an alarm.

Maintenance Features

Warnings and Cautions:

  • Power & Installation:
    • Avoid using multiple products on one power socket to prevent overheating and fire.
    • Do not bend power cables excessively or use damaged cables to prevent electric shock and fire.
    • Do not handle power cables with wet hands to prevent electric shock.
    • Unplug the power cable when not in use for a long period to prolong product lifespan and prevent fire.
    • Avoid installing in oily, smoky, humid places to prevent electric shock or fire.
    • Avoid installing during lightning and thunder to prevent electric shock or fire.
    • Do not connect with products of different rated voltages to prevent disorder or fire.
    • Install at least 10cm away from walls for ventilation to prevent fire due to increased internal temperature.
  • Cleaning & Use:
    • Do not disassemble, repair, or rebuild the product arbitrarily to prevent electric shock or fire. Contact a service center for repairs.
    • If abnormal sound, burning smell, or smoke occurs, unplug the power cable and contact a service center.
    • Do not insert metallic or burnable materials into ventilation holes to prevent electric shock or fire.
    • Use only designated batteries for DC-powered products to prevent electric shock or fire.
    • Plug the power cable firmly into the inner end to prevent fire.
    • Hold the plug tightly when unplugging the power cable to prevent damage to copper wires, which can cause electric shock or fire.
    • Install the product with power off when connecting power cables after cutting them to prevent electric shock or fire.
    • Fix the product firmly using the wall-mounting unit and screws during installation to prevent injury from falling objects.
    • Be careful when using an AC circuit breaker due to the possibility of electric shock.
    • Check the use voltage and current for DC-only products and use the appropriate rectifier to prevent fire.
    • Avoid direct sunlight or heating devices during installation to prevent fire.
    • Do not install on unstable places or small support boards to prevent injury if it falls.
    • Clean with a soft, dry cloth after unplugging the power cable. Do not use chemical products like wax, benzene, alcohol, or cleanser.
    • Do not drop the product or apply shock to prevent failure.
    • Use the designated connection cable within the maximum calling distance to maintain product performance.

Troubleshooting Guide:

  • Blackened visitor image in clear background: Replace the camera to a place without backlight.
  • Blurry screen: Remove foreign substance from the lens.
  • No call to guard station/common lobby (DATA LINE out-of-order(2)): Problem in communication line; call A/S center.
  • Hung up automatically while talking: End talk within the preset time (1 min for individual entrance, 1 min for common entrance).
  • DATA LINE out-of-order(1): Call A/S center.

General Maintenance:

  • Installation: Do not install the product in different places if it uses common wiring.
  • Switch: Ensure the device switch is up.
  • Disassembly: Never disassemble or remodel the product. Consult dealership or customer service for repairs.
  • Objects on Product: Do not place metal objects, pots, or bottles on the product.
  • Fire Alarm: Use a proper disconnection device for interior wiring. Promptly shut down the disconnection device during a fire emergency.
  • Power Off: Turn off the device power when installing or repairing.
  • Calling Service Man: Read the User's Guide carefully before calling service. Check the entire checklist.
  • Before You Call: If problems persist, pull the power plug, wait 10 minutes, and plug it back in.
  • Getting Help: If operating problems cannot be corrected, contact your dealer or Commax Customer Service. Do not open the cabinet to avoid voiding the warranty.
  • Qualified Service Personnel: Unplug the unit and refer servicing to qualified personnel if the power supply/plug is damaged, the unit has been exposed to rain/water, a solid object/liquid has fallen into the unit, the unit exhibits a distinct change in performance, or the unit has been dropped/damaged.
  • Maintaining Your Unit: Occasional dusting is sufficient. Do not spray liquids on the unit.

  • Replacement Parts: Ensure service technicians use manufacturer-specified or equivalent replacement parts to prevent fire, electrical shock, or other hazards.
