POWER SOURCES
You
can power the COM102 from internal batteries, vehicle
battery {using a
DC
adapter) from standard
AC
power (using
an
AC adapter).
INTERNAL BATTERIES
The COM102 requires
six
AA
batteries.
It
is
recommended
that alkaline batteries are used for longer life and better
performance. Re-chargeable Nicad batteries may also
be
used.
Caution: The COM102
has
a built-in charging circuit that
enables
you
to re-
charge
Ni-cad
batteries
inside
the
scanner
.
This
circuit
must not be used when
non-re-
chargeable batteries are installed.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
Remove the battery compartment cover
by
pressing down
on
the arrow
and
sliding off the cover
in
the direction
of
the
arrow. Take out battery holder from the battery compartment
and
install
six
AA
battteries, note polarity
(+
or
-)
marked
on
the battery holder. Place the battery holder
in
the battery
compartment
so
that the metal contacts
of
the holder line
up
with the metal contacts
in
the battery compartment. Replace
the battery compartment cover.
LOW BATTERY INDICATOR
The letter "B"
is
displayed when the batteries
are
low
and
it
is
advisable to replace all six batteries immediately or re-
charge if Nicad batteries are installed.
EXTERNAL POWER
The COM102 has two external power sockets (PWR
and
CHG).
The
PWR
socket supplies power to operate the scanner
and
disconnects the internal batteries. This socket
can
be
used
with
an
external power source
no
matter what batteries are
installed.
The CHG socket supplies power to operate the scanner
and
also supplies
power
to
re-charge the internal batteries. The
CHG socket must only be used when Nicad batteries are
installed.
