12. Display and operation
The following chapter provides an overview of the individual display lines. You will
also find out how to configure the display deviating from the basic setting. Special
operating functions are also explained.
a) Time and calendar display
The weather station has a DCF receiver and is able to evaluate the DCF signal, which
contains highly precise time information. The time and the date are set automatically
when the DCF signal is received. Thus, the manual setting of the clock is not neces-
sary any longer, neither for the change from summer to winter time.
The DCF signal is emitted by a transmitter in Mainflingen near Frankfurt am Main and
has a range of up to 1500 km, in ideal cases of up to 2000 km.
The DCF signal is received by the temperature/air humidity sensor. After each battery
change, the temperature/air humidity sensor performs a DCF reception attempt
immediately and then in daily intervals. This data is transmitted wireless to the base
station.
