This
dial
is
used
to
set
the
exposure.
When
turned
to
“AUTO,”
the
camera
is
set
for
aperture-
priority
automatic
exposure.
When
turned
to
a
number,
the
shutter
speed
is
set
for
manual
exposure
mode,
at
the
indicated
shutter
speed.
Shutter
speeds
can
be
set
in
the
range
“4S”
(4
seconds)
to
“4000”
(1/4000
second)
in
single-step
units.
The
dial
can
also
be
set
to
“B”
for
bulb
exposures,
and
to
“X”
for
X-synchronized
flash
exposures
at
1/200
second.

Be
sure
that
the
shutter
speed
dial
is
securely
set
in
one
of
the
click
indent
positions
when
using
(do
not
attempt
to
set
the
dial
between
the
marked
number
settings).

To
prevent
unintentional
changes
of
shutter
speed,
the
“AUTO”
and
“X”
positions
lock
into
place.
To
change
from
these
settings,
you
must
turn
the
dial
while
pressing
the
shutter-
speed
dial
lock
release
button
(on
top
of
the
dial).
