*1: When this function is selected, the distance
can be fixed by manual focusing. While
pressing on the focus lock button (®) on
manual focus (MF), turn the focus dial (2)
and set the shooting distance. This feature is
provided to help prevent inadvertent moving
of the focus dial, resulting in out-of-focus
pictures, and to facilitate taking pictures at a
pre-set focusing distance.

To operate (set to “MF”)
m To use the camera’s focusing function to
adjust focus:
Aim the focusing frame at the subject; while
holding the focus lock button depressed, turn
the focus dial until the focus scale is aligned
with the focus index mark. Release the focus-
lock button when the scale and mark are
aligned.
