Do you have a question about the Cool Energy diverTech and is the answer not in the manual?
The Cool Energy diverTech Solar Energy Diverter is a device designed to harvest surplus solar energy that would otherwise be exported to the grid and divert it to heating elements within a property. It monitors the whole-house electricity supply and, upon detecting export, begins to divert electricity in 100W increments, up to a maximum of 3600W. The system can connect and sequentially heat two elements, with Element 1 always taking priority. The device also features a built-in display that provides real-time data on unit status and total energy saved.
The primary function of the diverTech is to maximize the self-consumption of solar PV generated energy. When the PV array generates more power than the property is consuming, the diverTech uses a CT clamp to detect this surplus export energy. It then directs this energy to connected heating elements, such as immersion heaters or towel radiator elements. The heating elements should always have their own independent thermostat controls. The diverTech automatically detects when a heating element reaches its set temperature and switches off. If a second element is connected, it will then begin to heat the second element. Every 20 minutes, the diverTech re-checks the first element's demand for heat, prioritizing it over the second element. The device is designed to automatically adjust to changes in household consumption, ensuring that only surplus energy is diverted. In the event of a power cut, the diverTech will automatically restart and retain all settings and saved data.
The diverTech is compliant with several standards, including EN62368-1:2014+A11:2017, LVD Directive 2014/35/EU, EN301 489-3 V2.1.1:2017, EN301 489-1 V2.2.0:2017, EN300 220-1 V3.1.1:2017, EN300 220-2 V3.1.1:2017, EN62479:2010, and Radio Equipment Directive RED 2014/53/EU.
The diverTech features a user-friendly interface with a display and three buttons: "Display," "Up," and "Down," and a "Boost" button.
The display provides various information:
The diverTech allows users to set up to three manual boost time periods. During these periods, the maximum output will be sent to the heater outputs, even if there isn't enough export power. Boost times are set using the "Up" and "Down" buttons. Pressing "Up" enters the setting page, and subsequent "Up" presses move to the next time period. The "Down" key selects the time to be adjusted and confirms the selection. Setting a boost time to 00:00 disables it.
