Overview

The COROS VERTIX watch is a versatile wearable device designed for various activities, offering a range of functions from basic timekeeping to advanced workout tracking and navigation. Its intuitive interface, primarily controlled by a Digital Dial and two additional buttons, allows for easy operation and customization.

Function Description

The core functionality of the COROS VERTIX watch revolves around its ability to track and display various data points, manage settings, and provide navigation assistance. The watch features a backlight for visibility in low-light conditions, which can be activated or deactivated with a simple press of the LIGHT button.

The Digital Dial, also referred to as the CONFIRM button, is central to the watch's operation. It allows users to scroll through selections, navigate daily widgets, and switch between different data pages during workouts. This dial also facilitates zooming in and out when using the navigation mode, providing a dynamic view of routes and maps. Confirming selections is done by pressing the Digital Dial, and it also serves to open the main menu, providing access to all the watch's features and settings. For workout enthusiasts, the Digital Dial is crucial for finishing a workout session. Furthermore, it plays a vital role in the watch's power management, enabling users to power on and restart the device by holding it down for a specified duration.

The BACK/LAP button offers additional control and functionality. Its primary use is to return to the previous screen, simplifying navigation through menus and settings. During workouts, this button allows users to record laps or mark rest periods, providing detailed tracking of performance and recovery. For those engaged in interval training, the BACK/LAP button enables skipping to the next session, streamlining the training process. It also offers the ability to change the display of different data on the main watch face, allowing users to customize the information they see at a glance. Holding this button down opens the Toolbox or shortcut menu, providing quick access to frequently used features. Lastly, it is used to exit Stopwatch and Timer feature pages, ensuring a smooth transition back to other watch functions.

Restarting the Device: A full restart can be initiated by pressing and holding the Digital Dial for 15 seconds until the COROS logo reappears. Alternatively, users can turn off the watch via the menu (main watch face > System > More Settings > Turn Off) and then turn it back on.

Resetting the Watch: For a complete reset, users can go to the main watch face, then System, More Settings, and select Reset All. This feature is useful for troubleshooting or preparing the watch for a new user.

Backlight Control: The LIGHT button (1) allows users to activate or deactivate the backlight, ensuring visibility in various lighting conditions.

Navigation and Selection: The Digital Dial (2) is the primary tool for navigation, allowing users to rotate it to scroll through selections, switch between daily widgets, and move between data pages during workouts. Pressing the dial confirms selections and opens the main menu.

Workout Management: During workouts, the Digital Dial (2) is used to finish a session, while the BACK/LAP button (3) allows for recording laps, marking rest periods, and skipping interval training sessions. The BACK/LAP button also enables customization of data displayed on the main watch face during activities.

Shortcut Access: Holding the BACK/LAP button (3) opens the Toolbox/shortcut menu, providing quick access to frequently used functions.

Auto Lock Feature: To prevent accidental button presses, the COROS VERTIX watch includes an Auto Lock feature. When a small lock icon appears on the watch face, the display is locked. There are two primary modes for unlocking:

  • Hold to Unlock: Press and hold either the Digital Dial or the BACK/LAP button to unlock the display.
  • Scroll to Unlock: Scroll the Digital Dial in any direction until a meter bar reaches the top.

Users can adjust the Auto Lock mode settings by navigating to main watch face > System > More Settings > Auto Lock. Here, they can choose between Standby Mode, Workout Mode, Scroll to Unlock, Hold to Unlock, or turn the feature OFF. Once activated, the display will automatically lock if it remains idle for 2 minutes in Standby mode or 10 seconds in Workout mode.

Maintenance Features

The COROS VERTIX watch also includes features and guidelines for basic maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure its longevity and optimal performance.

Charging: If the watch fails to turn on, it is recommended to charge it for over 2 hours. This ensures that the battery has sufficient power to initiate the device.

Charging Cable Removal: A crucial step in troubleshooting power issues is to remove the charging cable from the watch before attempting to restart it. This prevents potential conflicts or issues that might arise from the watch being connected to power during a restart attempt.

Troubleshooting Power Issues: If the watch still doesn't turn on after charging, pressing and holding the Digital Dial for over 15 seconds is advised. This extended press can force a restart and often resolves issues where the watch appears unresponsive.

Avoiding Inactive Mode: Users are cautioned against pressing both buttons on the COROS watch simultaneously. Doing so can cause the watch to enter "Inactive mode," where it will not respond to normal operations or charging. If the watch enters this mode, it is recommended to power off the watch (main watch face > System > More Settings > Turn Off) if planning to stop using it, to reset its state.

These features collectively contribute to a robust and user-friendly experience, making the COROS VERTIX watch a reliable companion for daily life and athletic pursuits.
