3-Way Wiring Applications
1Determine the power source (power in). NEVER connect a TCS Plus
wire to a white neutral wire. When using a 3-way set up, make sure
the breaker switch is turned off.
2. Remove the 3-way toggle switches from the wall boxes. Trace the flow
of current. Start with #1 through #5.
3. With all controls out of the circuit, connect #1 to #2 and #3 to #4.
Leave #5 open. Turn the breaker switch back on.
4. With a test light at the ceiling box, hold one side to the black #5 wire
and the other side to the neutral wire. If your test light glows, the
circuit is completed.
Before you connect the TCS plus switches, turn the "off/on" switch
to the off position. Make sure your breaker switch is turned off.
5. Install the two TCS plus switches as shown in the diagram. With
example #1 the black wire is used as a 110v traveler. The green or red
wires are not used for this set up.
NOTE: With diagram #2, #3 and #4 use the third wire. Most of the time
the red wire will be used for the hot circuit traveler.
