Fuel Filter Air Cleaner
Gasolineand itsvaporsareextremelyflammableandexplosive.Fire
orexplosioncancausesevereburnsor death.
• Keepgasolineawayfromsparks,openflames,pilotlights,heat,
andotherignitionsources.
• Checkfuel lines,tank,cap,andfittingsfrequentlyforcracksor
leaks.Replaceif necessary.
• Beforereplacingthe fuelfilter,drainthe fueltankas perthe
instructionsbelow.
• Do notdrainfuel whentheengineishot.Allowtheengine
adequatetimetocool. Drainfuel intoan approvedcontainer
outdoors,awayfromopenflame.
• Drainanylargevolumeoffuelfromthetankbydisconnectingthe
fuellinefromthein-linefuelfilterneartheengine.
• Removethe fuel linefromthe In-lineside (sidetowardsthe fuel
tank)of thefuelfilter.
• Replacementpartsmustbethe sameand installedin the same
positionastheoriginalparts.
• Iffuelspills,waituntilitevaporatesbeforestartingengine.
• Beforereplacingthe fuelfilter,drainthe fueltank. Otherwisefuel
canleakout andcausea fireor explosion.
ToDrainthe fuel:
1. Locatethefuelfilter,whichis routedontheleftsideofthe engine
betweenthefueltankandthecarburetor,andmaybeattachedto
theenginewitha tiestrap.Cutthetie strap,ifpresent,then pinch
thein-lineclamponthefuelfilterwitha pairof pliers,slidethe
clampupthefuelline.Pullthe fuellinefreefromthefilterandplace
theopenendof the lineintoanapprovedcontainerto drainthefuel.
Tochangethe fuel filter:
1. Usepliersto squeezethe tabsonthe otherclamp(theout-line
sideofthe fuel filter),thenslidethe clampawayfromthefuel filter.
Twistandpullthe fuellineoff of the fuelfilter.SeeFigure13.
2. Checkthefuel linesforcracksor leaks.Replaceif necessary.
3. Replacethe fuel filterwithan originalequipmentreplacement
filter.Call1-800-4-MY-HOME®to purchasethe originalequip-
mentreplacementfilter.
4. Securethefuel lineswiththe clamps.
Iffilters,or coversare notinstalledcorrectlyseriousinjuryordeath
couldresultfrombackfire.Do notattemptto starttheenginewith
themremoved.
Donotuse pressurizedair or solventsto cleanthe aircleaner
cartridge.
Theairfiltersystemusesa cylindricalcartridge.
1. Removethe fasteners(A)andtheairfiltercover(B). SeeFigure
14.
2. To removethe filter(C),liftthe endof the filterandthenpullthe
filteroff the intake(D).
3. To loosendebris,gentlytapthefilteron a hardsurface.If thefilter
