PROBLEM PROBABLE CAUSE SOLUTION
Plug cap gets hot.
Intermittent overfiring and
underfiring.
Kiln Sitter® plunger will not
remain in.
Kiln shuts off too soon.
Corroded or worn out receptacle.
Corroded cord prong. Loose or
corroded cord cap connections
Kiln Sitter® tube assembly is
defective. Cone supports are bent
or dirty. End of tube assembly is
broken. Tube assembly pivot points
may be dirty.
Time is set to “0.” Strain on Kiln
Sitter® face plate. Kiln Sitter® not
adjusted properly, wrong cone used
in Kiln Sitter®.
Circuit breaker blows before firing
is completed. Safety timer may
have been set incorrectly for
voltage and load conditions at time.
Rarely, relay vibration may cause
the plunger button to pop out
prematurely.
Replace wall receptacle as well as
the cord.
Replace Kiln Sitter® cone supports
or the entire tube assembly if
damaged.
Set timer above “0.” Adjust Kiln
Sitter®, turn timer all the way up to
24 hours. Set timer correctly for
firing.
Replace circuit breaker if needed
check wall receptacle for voltage.
Put shock mounts on relay studs if
