The primary function of the CR8005F is to play vinyl records at three different speeds: 33 1/3, 45, and 78 RPM. It features a built-in speaker system, allowing for immediate audio playback without the need for external components. Additionally, the turntable offers Bluetooth input, enabling users to stream music wirelessly from their audio devices through the turntable's speakers. A unique feature is its Bluetooth output capability, which allows the turntable to transmit audio from playing records to other Bluetooth-enabled devices like wireless headphones or speakers, offering a versatile listening experience. For wired connections, it includes RCA jacks for connecting to a stereo system or powered speakers, and an Aux In jack for playing music from external audio devices through the turntable's speakers. To begin using the turntable, it should be placed on a flat, stable, and vibration-free surface. The tonearm's tie-wrap must be removed, and the AC adaptor connected to the Power Jack. It's crucial not to plug the adaptor into a power outlet until all connections are secure. The unit is powered on by rotating the On/Off Volume Knob.
For playing records, the Function Switch should be set to the PHONO position, indicated by a red light. The Speed Switch needs to be adjusted to match the record's speed (33 1/3, 45, or 78 RPM). A 45 RPM adapter is included for records requiring it. Before playing, the stylus protector must be removed from the stylus assembly. The tonearm's Hold Down Clip should be released. The Tonearm Lever is used to gently lift the tonearm, allowing it to be positioned over the desired starting point on the record. Lowering the Tonearm Lever will slowly descend the tonearm onto the record, initiating playback. Once a record finishes playing, the Tonearm Lever is used again to raise the tonearm, which can then be returned to the Tonearm Rest. To secure the tonearm when not in use or during transport, the Tonearm Clip should be locked.
The turntable includes an Auto-stop Switch. When set to "ON," the platter will automatically stop spinning once the record reaches its end. If the turntable stops prematurely, setting the switch to "OFF" can resolve the issue. A Pitch Control knob allows for fine-tuning the playback speed, increasing or decreasing it by approximately 10% by rotating the knob clockwise or counter-clockwise, respectively.
For Bluetooth input, the Function Switch is set to the Bluetooth mode, indicated by a flashing blue light. Users then enable Bluetooth on their audio device, search for "CROSLEY CR8005," and pair. A confirmation sound and a solid blue light indicate a successful connection, after which music can be streamed from the device.
For Bluetooth output, the turntable's function switch is set to the middle position, and the function indicator will slowly flash blue. The receiving Bluetooth device (e.g., headphones, speakers) should be set to pairing mode. The turntable will automatically connect to the audio device, and a solid blue light will confirm successful pairing.
When using the Aux Input, an auxiliary cable connects an external audio device to the turntable's Aux In Jack. This connection automatically overrides the turntable and Bluetooth functions. The Function Indicator will turn purple. To resume turntable or Bluetooth functions, the auxiliary cable must be unplugged.
Proper maintenance is essential to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the turntable. Users should avoid touching the stylus tip with their fingers and prevent it from bumping against the turntable mat or record edges, as this can cause damage. The stylus should be cleaned frequently using a soft brush, moving it from back to front only. Records should also be cleaned regularly with a record cleaning brush and solution to remove dust and grease.
The turntable lid and cabinet can be cleaned with a slightly damped microfiber cloth. It is important to avoid using cleansers that contain alcohol, benzene, or other harsh chemicals, as these can damage the paint and finish of the turntable. Crosley offers a range of cleaning accessories, which can be found on their website or by inquiring with a retailer.
In case of troubleshooting, if there is no power, users should check if the power adaptor is correctly connected and if the power outlet is functional. The turntable also features an ERP energy-saving standard, which automatically cuts off power after 20 minutes of no audio input. To resume playing, the power must be turned off and then on again. If the power is on but the platter isn't turning, check if the turntable's drive belt has slipped off or if an aux-in cable is plugged into the aux-in jack. If the turntable is spinning but there's no sound or the sound is too low, ensure the stylus protector is removed, the tonearm is not lifted by the lever, and no headphones are plugged in.
