CongratulationsonpurchasingyournewCTEKprofessionalswitchmodebatterycharger.Thischargerispartof a rangeofprofes-
sionalbatterychargersfromCTEKSWEDENAB.Itrepresentsthelatesttechnologyinbatterychargingwithchargingandanalysis
ineightstepswithtemperaturecompensation.Read this User Manual and follow the instructions carefully before using your
new charger.
SAFETY
Thechargerisdesignedforlead-acidbatteries.Donotusethechargerforanyotherpurpose
Usesafetyglassesandturnyourheadawaywhenconnectingordisconnecting a battery.
Batteryacidiscorrosive.Rinseimmediatelywithwaterifacidcomesintocontactwithskinoreyes.Seekmedicaladvice.
Makesurethatthecableisnotpinchedorincontactwithwarmsurfacesorsharpedges.
Whilecharging, a batterycanemitexplosivegases,soitisimportantto avoid sparksintheimmediatearea.
Alwaysprovideforproperventilationduringcharging.
Avoidcoveringthecharger.
Makesurethattheelectricalcabledoesnotcomeintocontactwithwater.
Nevercharge a frozenbattery.
Nevercharge a damagedbattery.
Donotplacethechargeronthebatterywhilecharging.
The electrical connection must full the national heavy current requirements.
Checkthechargercablingbeforeuse.Makesuretherearenocracksinthecablingorintheprotectivecovering. A chargerwith
damagedcablesmaynotbeused.
Alwayscheckthatthechargerhasgoneovertomaintenancechargingmodebeforeleavingthechargerunattendedand
connectedforlongperiods.Ifthechargerhadnotgoneovertomaintenancechargingwithin 3 days,thisisanindicationof a 
problem.Inthiscasethechargermustbedisconnectedmanually.
Allbatteriesfailsoonerorlater. A batterythatfailsduringchargingisnormallytakencareofbythechargersadvancedcontrol,
butcertainuncommonerrorsinthebatterycanstillarise.Don’t leave thebatterychargerunattendedfor a longerperiodoftime.
Only mount the charger on a at surface.
This equipment may not be used by children or by those who can not read and understand the manual if they are not supervised
by a responsiblepersonwhocanguaranteethatthebatterychargerisbeingusedin a safemanner.Storeandusethebattery
chargeroutofthereachofchildren.Makesurethatchildrendonotplaywiththebatterycharger.
Whenusingoutdoorsthechargerhastobepositionedhorizontallywiththelongsideortopsideturnedup.
CHARGING
Connecting the charger to a battery tted in a vehicle
1. Thepowercordshouldbedisconnectedwhenconnectingordisconnectingthebatteryleads.
2. Identifythebatteryterminalthatisgrounded(connectedtothechassis).Thenegativeterminalisnormallythegroundedpost.
3. Charging a negativelygroundedbattery.Connecttheredcabletothepositiveterminalonthebatteryandtheblackcableto
goodmetalenginegroundawayfromthebattery.Ensureyoudonotconnecttheblackcabletofuellinesorsheet-metalbody
parts.
4. Charging a positivelygroundedbattery.Connecttheblackcabletothenegativeterminalonthebatteryandtheredcableto
goodmetalenginegroundawayfromthebattery.Ensureyoudonotconnecttheredcabletofuellinesorsheet-metalbodyparts.
Connecting the charger to an out of vehicle battery:
1. Thepowercordshouldbedisconnectedwhenconnectingordisconnectingthebatteryleads.
2. Connecttheredcabletothepositiveterminalonthebatteryandtheblackcabletothenegativeterminal.
Ifthebatteryleads have beenconnectedincorrectly,thereversepolarityprotectionsystemwillensurethatneitherthechargernor
thebatteryaredamaged.
Start charging
1. Connectthechargers AC cordtoan AC PowerSupply.ThechargerwillindicatePOWER,yellowindicationlamp(B).
2. Thelampforcompletelydischargedbattery(1)willilluminateifthebattery’svoltageislessthan 12V forMULTIXS 25000and
XS 25000or 24VforMULTIXT14000orXT14000.
3. Normalcharging
willbeindicatedbythefollowinglights:completelydischargedbattery(1),bulkcharging (2),absorption
charging(3)ormaintenancecharging(4).Whenthemaintenancecharginglampilluminatesthebatteryisfullycharged.Charging
willstartifthevoltagedrops.Thechargercannormallybeconnectedformonths.Reconditioning(onlyonMULTIXS 25000and
MULTIXT14000)isindicatedbythelamp(5)illuminating.
4. Ifthebatteryleads have beenconnectedincorrectly,thereversepolarityprotectionsystemwillensurethatneitherthecharger
northebatteryaredamaged.
5. Ifnothinghappens.Ifthelampindicatingthesettingandthepowerlampremainlitbutnootherlampilluminates,theconnection
tothebatteryorchassismaybepoororthebatterymaybefaulty.Anothercausemaybe a lackofvoltageinthe AC PowerSupply.
Beginbyimprovingtheconnectionbetweenthebatteryandcharger.
