Warning:

This unit is equipped with an internal combustion engine and should not be used on or near any unimproved forest-cov-

ered, brush-covered or grass-covered land unless the engine’s exhaust system is equipped with a spark arrester meeting ap-

plicable local or state laws (if any). If a spark arrester is used, it should be maintained in effective working order by the operator. In the

State of California the above is required by law (Section 4442 of the California Public Resources Code). Other states may have similar

laws. Federal laws apply on federal lands. A spark arrester for the muffler is available through your Cub Cadet dealer or contact the

service department, P.O. Box 368023 Cleveland, Ohio 44136-9722.

  If your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower engine cranks but won't start, make sure the throttle or choke is in the correct starting position as described in the OPERATION section of this manual. Check if the gasoline tank is empty and fill it if needed. A plugged fuel line or in-line fuel filter can also prevent starting; remove and clean the fuel line. Ensure the spark plug lead is connected. If these steps don't work, use a spark tester to check for spark. If there's no spark, have the engine’s magneto serviced by an authorized engine dealer. Also, refer to the engine manual packed with your unit to check and clean a dirty air cleaner.

The engine breather may also be defective; replace it if necessary.

Check all pulleys, blade adapters, keys, and bolts for tightness and any spindle damage. Tighten or replace any loose or damaged parts. Always replace a damaged blade.

  If your Cub Cadet Lawn Mower won’t discharge grass or leaves uncut strips, ensure the throttle is set at full throttle. Use a lower ground speed. Raise the deck if the cutting height is set too low. Sharpen or replace the blades if they are dull (this applies to the uncut strip problem only).
