Do you have a question about the Cudy POE40 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Cudy POE40 is a 4-channel Gigabit PoE++ Extender designed to extend both power and data to Powered Devices (PDs) over Ethernet cables. This device is compliant with IEEE 802.3bt/at/af standards, allowing it to work with a wide range of PoE-enabled devices such as IP cameras, wireless access points, and Smart VoIP phones.

Function Description

The primary function of the POE40 is to extend the reach of Power over Ethernet (PoE) connections. It acts as an intermediary device between a PoE injector (or a PoE switch) and multiple Powered Devices. The extender receives power and data from a PoE injector, which can supply up to 60 watts of power, and then distributes this power and data to up to four connected PDs. Each output port on the POE40 can deliver up to 30 watts of PoE power, making it suitable for powering various high-power PoE devices.

The POE40 supports 10/100/1000 Mbps data speeds, ensuring high-speed network connectivity for all connected devices. It operates in half/full duplex mode, adapting to the network requirements. The device utilizes standard Ethernet pin assignments for both power and data, ensuring compatibility with existing network infrastructures. For power input, it uses pins 1/2, 3/6, and 4/5, 7/8. For power output to PDs, it uses pins 1/2 (+) and 3/6 (-). This configuration allows for efficient power delivery over standard shielded category 5 (or higher) network cables.

Usage Features

The POE40 is designed for ease of use and flexible deployment. Its compact dimensions (119mm x 85mm x 28mm) and mounting options (wall or shelf) allow for discreet installation in various indoor environments. The device features clear LED indicators that provide immediate status feedback, simplifying troubleshooting and monitoring.

  • Power LED (Orange): When lit, it indicates that the device is powered. If unlit, there is no power.
  • Link/Act LED (Green): A lit LED signifies an active link connection, while an unlit LED indicates a link disconnect.
  • PoE LED (Orange): This indicator lights up when a Powered Device (PD) is successfully connected and receiving power. If it's unlit, it means either no PD is connected or power forwarding has failed.

The POE40 is equipped with shielded RJ-45 connectors, compatible with EIA 568A and 568B wiring standards, ensuring robust and reliable connections. It is designed to operate within a temperature range of 0 to 40°C and can be stored in temperatures from -40 to 60°C. The operating humidity is up to 90% non-condensing, and storage humidity is up to 95% non-condensing, making it suitable for a variety of indoor settings.

The device is compliant with multiple IEEE standards, including 802.3af (15.4W), 802.3at (30W), and 802.3bt 4Pairs (60W), ensuring broad compatibility with different PoE devices and injectors. This multi-standard support allows users to integrate the POE40 into diverse network setups without compatibility concerns.

Maintenance Features

The POE40 is designed for minimal maintenance, offering reliable operation once installed. The LED indicators serve as a primary diagnostic tool, allowing users to quickly ascertain the device's operational status and identify potential issues such as power loss or connection failures. The robust construction and compliance with various environmental standards contribute to its long-term durability.

For ongoing support and warranty information, users can visit the Cudy website. The specifications are subject to change without notice, reflecting the manufacturer's commitment to continuous improvement. The device is a registered trademark of Shenzhen Cudy Technology Co., Ltd., ensuring quality and brand reliability.

The product also carries a CE Mark, indicating compliance with essential health, safety, and environmental protection requirements for products sold within the European Economic Area. This includes compliance with directives such as 2014/30/EU (EMC), 2014/35/EU (LVD), 2015/863/EU (RoHS), 2009/125/EC (ErP), and 2011/65/EU (RoHS Recast). The CE Mark also signifies that it is a Class B product, meaning it is suitable for use in domestic environments, though users may need to take adequate measures if radio interference occurs.

In summary, the Cudy POE40 is a versatile and reliable PoE extender that simplifies the deployment of PoE-powered devices by extending both power and data over standard Ethernet cables, offering robust performance and easy monitoring through its intuitive LED indicators.
