Overview

The Cuisinart 3-in-1 Pizza Oven Plus (Model NO: CGG-403) is a versatile outdoor cooking appliance designed for grilling, griddling, and baking pizzas. It is intended for outdoor household use only and should never be operated in an enclosed space, garage, building, or under overhead surfaces that can catch fire. The appliance is fueled by LP (liquid propane) gas and requires a 20-lb LP cylinder (not included) for operation.

Function Description:

The Cuisinart 3-in-1 Pizza Oven Plus offers three primary cooking modes:

  • Pizza Oven Mode: This mode is specifically designed for baking pizzas. It utilizes a pizza stone (10) placed on the grill grate (9) to achieve a crispy crust. The unit preheats on high for 15 minutes with the lid and pizza door closed. For cooking, the control knob is set to "PIZZA." Pizzas are placed on the stone using a pizza peel and cooked for 6-8 minutes, with a 180-degree turn halfway through for even cooking.
  • Griddle Mode: This mode allows for griddling various foods. The griddle plate (12) is positioned with its drain hole over the notch in the flame tamer (4). The griddle is preheated on high for 10 minutes. The griddle plate requires seasoning before first use and regular maintenance to maintain its non-stick surface and prevent rust.
  • Grill Mode: In this mode, the grill grate (9) is positioned with its riser pegs facing down. The grill is allowed to warm up with the lid closed for 5 minutes prior to cooking. It can be used in various weather conditions, though extreme temperatures may affect cooking times.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Fuel Type: Liquid Propane (LP) gas only.
  • LP Cylinder Requirement: 20-lb LP cylinder, constructed and marked in accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) or National Standard of Canada, CAN-B339 specifications. The cylinder must have a shut-off valve terminating in a QCC1 connection type and be fitted with an Overfill Protection Device (OPD).
  • Gas Consumption: Total of 15,000 BTU/Hr when all burners are set on "HI."
  • Manifold Pressure: 11 inches water column (W.C.) operating, 11.2 inches water column (W.C.) non-operating.
  • Hose Length: The hose connected regulator is 42 inches in length.
  • Clearance: Must be installed and used at least 36 inches from combustible materials from the back and sides.
  • Operating Height: Always operate the grill on a tabletop, no higher than 32 inches.
  • Components: Includes grill body (1), storage shelf (7), storage shelf supports (2), grease cup holder (3), flame tamer (4), grease cup (5), cart legs (6), lid handle assembly (8), cooking grid (9), pizza stone (10), griddle (12), and control knob (12). Hardware includes truss head screws (A and B).

Usage Features:

  • Easy Assembly: The manual provides step-by-step instructions for assembly, including attaching legs, storage shelf, grease cup holder, lid handle, and flame tamer.
  • Ignition: The grill features an integrated ignition system. To light, push and turn the Main burner knob slowly to IGNITE/HI with the lid open. If ignition doesn't occur within 3-5 seconds, turn the knob "OFF," wait 5 minutes, and reattempt. A lighting rod is provided for manual ignition if the spark fails.
  • Control: A single control knob (12) manages the burner, with settings for "OFF," "LOW," "HIGH," and "PIZZA."
  • Safety Warnings: Emphasizes outdoor use only, proper assembly, leak testing before each use, and not storing LP cylinders near the appliance or indoors. It also warns against moving the appliance when in use or hot, and operating it unattended or under the influence of drugs/alcohol.
  • Spider/Insect Hazard: Highlights the risk of spiders and insects nesting in the burner tube, which can block gas flow and cause fire. Regular inspection and cleaning of the burner tube are recommended.
  • Door Adjustment: The pizza oven door latch can be adjusted for tightness or looseness using a Phillips head screwdriver and a flat-head screwdriver.

Maintenance Features:

  • Leak Testing: Crucial for safety, leak testing should be performed before each use using a soap and water solution. Bubbles indicate a leak.
  • Flame Characteristics Check: Users should visually inspect burner flames prior to each use; flames should be blue and stable with no yellow tips or excessive noise.
  • Cleaning the Pizza Stone: The stone should be allowed to cool completely, then scrubbed with a stone brush and flat edge scraper. A damp washcloth with hot water can be used for stubborn debris. No soap, cleaning chemicals, or oils should be used on the porous cordierite stone.
  • Griddle Plate Cleaning and Care: After cooking, the hot griddle surface should be sprayed with water to create steam and scrape away debris into the grease trap. Once cool, the grease trap should be cleaned. A thin layer of oil should be applied to the griddle surface after cleaning to maintain seasoning and prevent rust.
  • Grease Tray Maintenance: The grease tray (5) must be kept clean and free of heavy buildup to prevent flare-ups and ensure proper grill performance.
  • Firebox Cleaning: The firebox should be cleaned with warm soapy water to prevent grease buildup.
  • Drain Hole Maintenance: The drain hole must be kept clear of grease and food particles to ensure proper drainage.
  • Burner Air Inlet Inspection: Check burner air inlet openings (behind the inlet guard) for insect nests or blockages, and ensure burner tube slots are clear.
  • Storage: When not in use, the control knob should be turned to "OFF," the propane cylinder disconnected and stored outdoors, out of reach of children. The grill should be allowed to cool for at least 30 minutes before moving or covering.
