Overview

The Cuisinart DGB-800C Series Fully Automatic Burr Grind & Brew™ Coffeemaker is a versatile appliance designed to simplify the coffee-making process by integrating grinding and brewing functions. It allows users to enjoy fresh, flavorful coffee by grinding whole beans just before brewing or by using pre-ground coffee.

Function Description:

This coffeemaker automatically grinds whole coffee beans to a desired fineness and then brews coffee. It features a burr grinder, which is known for producing a consistent grind, enhancing the flavor profile of the coffee. The integrated brewing system ensures that water is evenly distributed over the coffee grounds via a showerhead. The appliance can also be used with pre-ground coffee, bypassing the grinding function. It includes a "Brew Pause™" feature, allowing users to pour a cup mid-brew. The coffeemaker is programmable, offering options for setting the brew time and an automatic shutoff time.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Hopper Capacity: Holds up to ½ lb. (226 g) of coffee beans.
  • Carafe: Glass carafe with a hands-free lid, designed for easy pouring and no-drip serving.

  • Automatic Shutoff: Programmable from 0 to 4 hours after brewing is complete (default is 2 hours).
  • Safety Interlock System: Prevents operation if the filter basket, filter basket cover, or filter basket door is not properly in place.

Usage Features:

Maintenance Features:

  • Easy Cleaning: All removable parts, including the filter basket, permanent filter, carafe, and lid, can be washed in warm, soapy water or in the upper rack of a dishwasher.
  • Grinder Cleaning: Instructions are provided for removing remaining beans from the hopper and cleaning the hopper with a damp cloth.
  • Decalcification: The coffeemaker features a "CLEAN" indicator that flashes when decalcification is needed. The decalcification process involves running a mixture of white vinegar and water through the unit to remove calcium deposits. It is crucial to remove the charcoal water filter before decalcifying.
  • Water Filter Replacement: The charcoal water filter should be replaced regularly to maintain optimal coffee taste.

Safety Precautions:

  • Always unplug the appliance when not in use and before cleaning.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces during or immediately after operation.
  • Never immerse the cord, plug, or base unit in water or other liquids.
  • Do not open the filter basket during the brewing cycle to avoid scalding.
  • Ensure the filter basket, cover, and door are properly in place before operating.
  • Use only roasted coffee beans in the grinder; grinding other substances can damage the blades.
  • Avoid using two or more paper filters or a paper filter with the gold-tone filter simultaneously to prevent overflow.
  • Do not operate the appliance in an appliance garage or under a wall cabinet without proper ventilation.
