Overview

The Cuisinart PurePrecision Pour-Over Coffee Brewer (CPO-800) is designed to deliver a premium coffee experience, mimicking the precise pour-over method for optimal flavor extraction. This instruction booklet outlines the features, usage, and maintenance to ensure the best performance and longevity of the appliance.

Function Description

The Cuisinart PurePrecision Pour-Over Coffee Brewer is an automatic coffeemaker that replicates the pour-over brewing technique. It precisely heats water to the ideal brewing temperature and then showers it evenly over coffee grounds, allowing for a "blooming" phase before continuing the brewing process. This controlled method ensures maximum flavor extraction, resulting in a rich and aromatic cup of coffee. The coffeemaker is designed for household use and comes with a charcoal water filter to remove chlorine, bad tastes, and odors from tap water, ensuring the purest coffee flavor. It can brew up to 8 cups of coffee into a glass carafe.

Usage Features

The coffeemaker offers several user-friendly features for a customized brewing experience:

  • Control Panel: The intuitive control panel allows users to navigate various settings. It includes buttons for BREW/OFF, MENU, AUTO ON, and up/down arrows for adjustments.
  • Strength Control: Users can select their preferred coffee strength from MILD, MEDIUM, or BOLD options, catering to individual taste preferences.
  • Temperature Control: The brewer offers two temperature settings: HOT and X-HOT, allowing users to choose their desired coffee temperature.
  • Programmable Auto On: The Auto On feature enables users to program the coffeemaker to automatically begin brewing up to 24 hours in advance. This is convenient for waking up to freshly brewed coffee. The Auto On indicator light illuminates when this feature is active.
  • Auto Off: The Auto Off function allows users to set the machine to shut off automatically after a specified amount of time, ranging from 0 to 4 hours, after the brew cycle is completed.
  • Clock Setting: The coffeemaker features a digital clock that can be easily set using the MENU button and up/down arrows.
  • Water Reservoir with Water Level Indicator Window: The water reservoir is easy to fill, and the water level indicator at the front of the coffeemaker helps users pour the desired amount of water.
  • Filter Basket: The unit accommodates either a #4 paper filter or the included Cuisinart® Laser-Etched Stainless Steel Filter. The stainless steel filter eliminates the need for paper filters, though some fine grounds may appear as sediment in the carafe.
  • Brew Pause™ Feature: This feature allows users to temporarily stop the flow of coffee from the basket to pour a cup mid-brew. However, it's important to note that removing the carafe for more than 20 seconds during the brew cycle may cause the filter basket to overflow, and using this feature may weaken the flavor strength of the finished pot.
  • 60-Second Reset: In case of a power interruption (breaker trip, unplugging, or power failure), the coffeemaker retains all programmed information, including time of day, Auto On time, and Auto Off time, for one minute.
  • Measuring Scoop: A measuring scoop is included for convenient and accurate coffee ground measurement.
  • BPA Free: All parts that come into contact with coffee or liquids are BPA free, ensuring safety and peace of mind.
  • SCAA Approved Settings: The coffeemaker proudly carries the seal of approval from the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA), having met their rigorous technical requirements for exemplary home brewers. The default SCAA approved settings are Medium strength and Hot temperature.
  • Blooming: After the coffee grounds are evenly showered with water heated to the ideal brewing temperature, the unit pauses to allow the flavor to "bloom" before continuing with the brewing process, enhancing the overall taste.

Maintenance Features

Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of the Cuisinart PurePrecision Pour-Over Coffee Brewer:

  • General Cleaning: Always unplug the coffeemaker from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool before cleaning. The coffeemaker lid, filter basket, carafe, and carafe lid can be washed in warm, soapy water and rinsed thoroughly, or placed in the upper rack of a dishwasher.
  • Filter Basket Cleaning: After each use, lift the coffeemaker lid, remove and discard the paper filter and ground coffee. The filter basket can be washed manually or in the dishwasher. It's important not to put water directly into the unit once the filter basket is removed; instead, wipe the area under the filter basket with a damp cloth.
  • Carafe Cleaning: The 8-cup glass carafe and its lid should be cleaned after each use. Do not use cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive materials on the carafe or heating plate.
  • Base Unit Cleaning: Never immerse the base unit in water or other liquids. To clean the base, simply wipe it with a clean, damp cloth and dry before storing. Fingerprints and other blemishes on the housing can be washed off with soap and water or a nonabrasive cleaning solution. The heating plate should be wiped with a clean, damp cloth. Avoid using rough, abrasive materials or cleansers on the heating plate. Do not dry the inside of the water reservoir with a cloth, as lint may remain.
  • Charcoal Water Filter Replacement: The charcoal water filter should be replaced every 60 days or after 60 uses, and more often if you have hard water, to ensure the purest coffee flavor. Replacement filters can be purchased from stores or by contacting Cuisinart Customer Service.
  • Decalcification: Over time, calcium deposits can form on the metal parts of the coffeemaker, affecting its functioning and coffee flavor. The "CLEAN START" indicator on the LCD panel will illuminate when decalcification is needed. To decalcify, remove the charcoal water filter, fill the water reservoir with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water, and then press the MENU button 5 times to select "CLEAN START." Press BREW/OFF to start the cleaning cycle. After the cycle is complete and the unit shuts off, if "CLEAN START" is still illuminated, repeat the procedure with a fresh solution. Once "CLEAN START" remains off, run one cycle with a full reservoir of fresh, cold water to rinse the unit before returning the charcoal water filter.
  • Authorized Service: Any servicing beyond general cleaning and decalcification should be performed by an authorized service representative to ensure proper repair and maintain warranty validity.
