Overview

The Cuisinart Air Fryer Mini Oven (Model TOA60E / Q178A) is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for various cooking functions, offering a healthy alternative to traditional deep frying.

Function Description:

This multi-functional mini oven combines several cooking modes:

  • AirFry: This is the primary function, utilizing hot air, a high fan speed, and two upper heating elements to prepare a variety of meals that are both delicious and healthier than traditional frying, requiring little to no oil.
  • Bake: Recommended for a range of foods typically prepared in a conventional oven, such as cakes, muffins, pastries, sweet and savory pies, quiches (including blind baking), soufflés, meringues, and baked fruits. It's also suitable for cooking frozen foods. The fan operates at a reduced speed in this mode.
  • Roasts & Pizzas (Fan-Assisted Bake): This function circulates heated air with a fan for faster cooking. It's ideal for roasting meats like chicken, pork, beef, and lamb, as well as for baking pizzas, roasted vegetables, scones, bread loaves, and cookies.
  • Grill: Used for cooking meats such as beef, chicken pieces, pork chops, sausages, and burgers. It can also be used for cooking fish and kebabs.
  • Paninis & Toasties: This function is for browning and grilling flat foods, including paninis, toasties, gratins, cheese toppings, toasted sandwiches, and bacon. The fan operates at a reduced speed.
  • Toast: Specifically designed for toasting bread, crumpets, and bagels, with the fan operating at a reduced speed.
  • Keep Warm: This function maintains the temperature of cooked food, and can also be used for items prepared with other appliances, such as pancakes or waffles.

Important Technical Specifications:

The device features a power light, an on/oven timer dial, an oven temperature dial, a function dial, an on/toast dial, and an interior oven light button. It includes a pull-out crumb tray, an AirFryer basket, an oven rack, and a baking tray. For safety, it has a safety auto-off door switch (not shown) and cord storage (not shown). The appliance requires 100mm clearance around the front, back, and sides during use. Recommended temperatures for air frying range from 200°C to 230°C, with cooking times varying from 5 to 25 minutes depending on the food type. The appliance is designed for indoor, domestic use only.

Usage Features:

Before first use, all packaging materials and promotional labels must be removed, and all accessories thoroughly cleaned. The appliance should be placed on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface near a power socket.

  • Rack Positions: The manual provides diagrams for optimal rack and pan positioning for different functions.
    • Position 1 for baking (fresh food), or for large items like whole chicken.
    • Position 2 for baking (frozen food), grilling, air frying, and toasting.
  • Operation: To activate a function, select the desired function and temperature using the respective dials. Then, turn the timer dial to the desired cooking time or toast shade setting (1-6 for toast). The power light will illuminate, and the timer will ring once the cycle is complete, turning the oven off. To stop a program mid-cycle, turn the timer dial to the "OFF" position.
  • Preheating: For delicate baked items like cakes and muffins, preheating the oven for 5 minutes is recommended, and this time should be incorporated into the total baking time.
  • Airfrying Tips:
    • Evenly distribute oil (sprayed or brushed) for crispy, golden results. Olive oil is preferred for a richer flavor, while vegetable, canola, or grapeseed oil is recommended for a mild flavor.
    • Various coatings like breadcrumbs, panko, quinoa, or flour can be used.
    • Larger items, such as chicken fillets, should be flipped halfway through cooking for even results.
    • For large quantities that crowd the pan, toss food halfway through cooking.
    • Use higher temperatures for quick-cooking foods (bacon, chips) and lower temperatures for longer-cooking foods (breaded chicken).
    • Cut foods to the same size for even cooking.
    • Lining the baking tray with aluminum foil can facilitate cleaning.
    • Be aware that condensation may form on the outside of the oven when cooking large quantities for extended periods.
  • Baking Tips: For fresh pizza, use the baking tray in position 1. For frozen pizza, place directly on the oven rack in position 2.
  • Roasts & Pizzas Tips: When convection baking, most recipes recommend reducing the heat or temperature by 3-4°C. Always check food for proper cooking at least 10 minutes before the suggested cooking time ends.
  • Grilling Tips: Use the provided airfryer basket fitted inside the baking tray for best grilling results. Never use glass oven dishes for grilling and always monitor food closely to prevent burning.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: All parts should be thoroughly cleaned before first use and after every use. Always allow the oven to cool completely and unplug it from the mains before cleaning.
  • Exterior: Wipe with a clean, damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Apply cleaning solution to the cloth, not directly onto the oven.
  • Interior: Use a damp cloth and a mild liquid soap solution or a spray on a sponge. Avoid harsh abrasives, corrosive products, steel wool pads, or metal scourers, as these can damage the oven surface.
  • Accessories: The oven rack, baking tray, airfryer basket, and crumb tray should be handwashed in hot, soapy water. They are NOT dishwasher safe.
  • Grease Removal: After cooking greasy foods and once the oven has cooled, clean the top interior of the oven regularly to maintain performance and consistent taste.
  • Crumb Tray: Slide out the crumb tray to discard crumbs, wipe clean, and replace. For baked-on grease, soak the tray in hot, soapy water. Never operate the oven without the crumb tray in place.
  • Cord Storage: Never wrap the supply cord around the outside of the oven. Use the cord storage cleats on the back of the oven.
  • Abrasives: Do not use abrasive cleaners, hard implements, or scourers on the non-stick coating.

Safety Cautions:

  • Surfaces become very hot; do not touch them and always use the handle.
  • This is an attended appliance; never leave it unattended when switched on or plugged in.
