Assistant systemsSpeed limiter with proactive speed adjustment
161
+1 km/h (1 mph)
-1 km/h (1 mph)
+10 km/h (5 mph)
-10 km/h (5 mph)
Traic signs that indirectly show a speed re-
striction, e.g. signs at the entrance to towns,
are only recognised on the basis of navigation
data.
If a warning is given of a speed restriction
based on navigation data, without it being de-
tected by the dynamic road sign display, the
indicated speed will be adjusted to the most
recently saved speed.
The speed limiter with proactive speed ad-
justment is not available for speed restrictions
lower than approx. 30 km/h (approx. 20 mph)
that are detected. In this case, a relevant
message is displayed on the instrument panel
screen.
Activate proactive speed adjust-
ment
The speed limiter with proactive speed adjust-
ment can be activated in the infotainment sys-
tem’s assistants menu.
Driving with proactive speed ad-
justment

control ››› page 158.
Activate the proactive speed adjustment.
As soon as the system recognises a speed
restriction en route, a warning is displayed
on the instrument cluster screen. The de-
tected speed is saved as the new desired
speed.
Interrupting speed adjustment
Press the button or release the accelera-
tor pedal twice and then press it again. The last
saved speed is resumed.
Press the button on the multifunction
steering wheel. The current speed is taken.
Press the button on the multifunction
steering wheel. The system switches to a pas-
sive state.
Adjust the displayed speed using the buttons
on the multifunction steering wheel
Gently press the + button.
Gently press the button.
Firmly press the + button
or swipe your nger from bottom to top
over the button. The rst time it is op-
erated, the speed increases in steps of
10 (km/h) or 5 (mph).
Press the button rmly
or swipe your nger over the button from
top to bottom. The rst time it is operated,
the speed is reduced in steps of 10 (km/h)
or 5 (mph).
If you adjust the indicated speed excessively,
the proactive speed adjustment is interrupted.
Note
When a speed restriction is recognised, the
proactive speed adjustment also adapts the
saved speed, even if the speed limiter is not
active.
If the speed of travel considerably exceeds
the speed limit detected by the traic signal
detection system, a relevant warning is dis-
played in the instrument panel display.
When merging onto a motorway or dual
carriageway, the recommended speed is au-
tomatically saved as the desired speed.
Troubleshooting
A message is displayed indicating that pro-
active speed adjustment is not currently
available or not oered in your country.
If this message is displayed for a longer pe-
riod of time and proactive speed adjustment
is available in your country, please contact a
specialist workshop.
Note
Depending on the anomaly in question, addi-
tional information may be displayed in Vehi-
cle status ››› page 35.
