Overview

The Dahua N42BJ62 is a 4MP Fixed Network Eyeball Camera, designed to offer high-resolution video and cutting-edge technology in a compact and accessible package. It features Smart H.265+ video compression, which helps reduce bandwidth and storage requirements without compromising video quality. The camera's elegant design and easy mounting solutions make it suitable for a variety of small to mid-size applications.

Technical Specifications:

  • Resolution: 4 Megapixels
  • Video Compression: Smart H.265+
  • Power Supply: Input 12 VDC or Power over Ethernet (PoE) for compatible devices. The power supply requirement is subject to the device label, and it must conform to SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) and be rated 16 VAC to 24 VAC, 12 VDC, or 24 VDC as specified in IEC60950-1.
  • Dimensions: Approximately Ø121.9 mm (Ø4.8 inches) in diameter and 99.1 mm (3.9 inches) in height. The mounting holes are arranged in a 3-120° pattern with a diameter of Ø84.0 mm (Ø3.31 inches) for the mounting plate.
  • Network Connection: RJ-45 Network Port, supporting standard Ethernet cable.
  • SD Card Support: Yes, for local storage.
  • Operating Environment:
    • Humidity: <95% RH
    • Altitude: <3000m
    • Temperature: Must be within the specified range for transport, use, and storage.
    • Avoid wet, dusty, extremely hot or cold environments, strong electromagnetic radiation, unstable lighting, corrosive environments (high salt fog, acid gas, chemical plants), and applications with strong vibrations (boats, vehicles).
    • Do not install near heat sources like radiators, heaters, or stoves.

Usage Features:

  • Easy Installation: The camera comes with a mounting plate, screw package, and positioning map to facilitate installation. It can be mounted to a wall or ceiling, provided the surface can support at least three times the total weight of the camera and any bracket used.
  • Waterproof Ethernet Connector: For outdoor installations, a waterproof network connector is provided to protect cable joints from short circuits and water damage. This involves threading the cable through the connector body, fixing rubber ring, and locking cover, then attaching the male Ethernet connector and sealing the connection.
  • SD Card Installation: The camera supports an SD card for local storage. Installation involves disconnecting power, removing a panel at the rear, inserting the SD card, replacing the panel, and optionally pressing the reset button for 10 seconds to reset the device.
  • Lens Angle Adjustment: The camera's lens angle can be adjusted after mounting, allowing for flexible positioning and coverage.
  • Network Configuration:
    • Device Initialization: The device needs to be initialized upon first use or after a reset using the Dahua ConfigTool. This involves setting a strong password and a valid email address for password recovery.
    • IP Address Modification: The IP address can be modified individually or in batch using the ConfigTool. Users can choose between Static IP or DHCP, ensuring the device and PC are on the same network segment for initial setup.
    • DMSS App Connectivity: The camera can be connected to the DMSS mobile app (available on Apple App Store and Google Play Store) for remote access and management. This involves scanning a QR code on the device or manually entering the serial number, then inputting the device password for identification.

Maintenance Features:

  • Firmware Updates: Regular firmware updates are recommended to ensure the system is equipped with the latest security patches and fixes. The "auto-check for updates" function can be enabled when connected to the public network.
  • Password Management: Users are strongly advised to change default passwords immediately and use strong, complex passwords (at least 8 characters, combining special characters, numbers, and upper/lower case letters). Passwords should be changed regularly and should not be based on account names or sequential/repeated characters.
  • Network Security:
    • Port Management: Change default HTTP and TCP ports (to numbers between 1025 and 65535) to reduce the risk of unauthorized access. Only forward necessary ports and avoid DMZing the device's IP address.
    • Isolation: Connect IP cameras to PoE ports on the back of an NVR to isolate them from the outside world. Ensure the NVR and IP camera network is separate from public computer networks.
    • Service Disablement: Turn off unnecessary services (e.g., SNMP, SMTP, UPnP) to reduce network compromise. When using services like SNMP, SMTP, or FTP, choose secure modes (SNMP v3 with strong encryption, TLS for SMTP, SFTP for FTP) and strong passwords. For AP hotspot, use WPA2-PSK encryption.
    • IP Filter: Enable the IP filter to prevent unauthorized access.
    • Multicast: Deactivate multicast if not in use to enhance network security.
  • Auditing and Logging:
    • Regularly check online users to ensure no unauthorized accounts are logged in.
    • Review the equipment log to identify IP addresses used to log in and key operations performed.
    • Enable the network log function to synchronize critical logs to a network log server if required.
  • Physical Security: Implement physical protection for the equipment, especially storage devices, by placing them in secure computer rooms or cabinets with access control and key management.
  • Cleaning:
    • Use a blower to clean dust or dirt from the lens surface. For stubborn dirt, use a dry cloth dampened with alcohol.
    • Clean the unit's housing with a dry soft cloth. For dusty units, use water to dilute a mild detergent, apply it to a soft cloth, gently clean, and then wipe dry. Avoid volatile solvents (alcohol, benzene, thinner) or strong abrasive detergents.
    • For dome covers, use an oil-free soft brush or blower for dirt. For grease or fingerprints, use a soft cloth to wipe water droplets or oil, then an oil-free cotton cloth or paper soaked with alcohol or detergent to clean the lens from the center outwards, changing the cloth several times.
  • General Maintenance:
    • Do not touch the heat dissipation component as it can be hot.
    • Do not open or dismantle the device; refer servicing to qualified personnel to prevent water leakage or component exposure.
    • Ensure internal and external ground connections are stable.
    • Do not supply power via PoE if power is already supplied via the power connector.
    • Disconnect power before maintenance or overhaul, especially in explosive environments.
    • Contact the dealer or service center if the device malfunctions; do not dismantle or modify it.
    • Use factory default packaging or equivalent quality material for transport.
