This document is an operation manual for a Daikin Room Air Conditioner, specifically for models FTXS20KVMA, FTXS20KVMN, FTXS25KVMA, FTXS25KVMN, FTXS35KVMA, FTXS35KVMN, FTXS46KVMA, CTXS20KVMA, FTKS20KVMA, FTKS25KVMA, FTKS35KVMA, and CTKS20KVMA. It provides comprehensive instructions for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the air conditioning unit.
Function Description
The Daikin Room Air Conditioner offers various operation modes and features designed for comfort and energy efficiency.
Operation Modes:
- AUTO: The system automatically selects an appropriate operation mode (COOL or HEAT) based on room and outside temperatures. It reselects settings at regular intervals to maintain the user-set temperature.
- DRY: This mode works to reduce room humidity while maintaining the temperature as much as possible. It automatically controls temperature and airflow rate, making manual adjustment unavailable.
- COOL: The unit cools the room by releasing heat outside. Cooling performance may be degraded if the outdoor temperature is high.
- HEAT: The system heats the room by circulating hot air. Heating capacity may decrease in lower outdoor temperatures, and defrosting operation may occur, during which hot air does not flow from the indoor unit.
- FAN: This mode circulates air without cooling or heating.
Key Features:
- INTELLIGENT EYE: This sensor detects human movement. If no one is in the room for more than 20 minutes, the operation automatically switches to an energy-saving mode.
- WEEKLY TIMER: Allows users to save up to 4 timer settings for each day of the week, enabling automatic on/off and temperature adjustments according to a family's lifestyle.
- COMFORT AIRFLOW: Adjusts the airflow direction to prevent air from blowing directly on occupants, enhancing comfort.
- POWERFUL Operation: Quickly maximizes cooling or heating effect for 20 minutes, providing maximum capacity in any operation mode.
- OUTDOOR UNIT QUIET Operation: Lowers the noise level of the outdoor unit by changing frequency and fan speed, convenient for nighttime use.
- ECONO Operation: Limits maximum power consumption, useful when other high-power appliances are in use to prevent circuit breaker trips.
- Airflow Direction Adjustment: Allows adjustment of both horizontal (louvers) and vertical (flaps) airflow directions, including a 3-D airflow option for even temperature distribution.
- Airflow Rate Setting: Multiple airflow rates are available, including an "Indoor unit quiet" setting for reduced noise.

Usage Features
Starting and Stopping Operation:
- To Start: Press the MODE button to select a desired operation mode (AUTO, DRY, COOL, HEAT, FAN), then press the ON/OFF button.
- To Stop: Press the ON/OFF button again.
- Indoor Unit ON/OFF Switch: A physical switch on the indoor unit allows basic operation (COOL at 22°C or HEAT at 25°C, both with AUTO airflow) if the remote controller is missing.
Temperature Adjustment:
- Use the TEMP ▲ or ▼ buttons on the remote controller to increase or decrease the temperature setting.
Airflow Direction and Rate:
- Auto Swing: Press the SWING button to activate upper and lower airflow direction swing.
- Right and Left Airflow: Press the SWING button again to activate right and left airflow swing.
- 3-D Airflow: Press the SWING button a third time to combine upper/lower and right/left swing for 3-D airflow.
- Fixed Airflow: Press the SWING button while the flaps/louvers are swinging to fix them at a desired position.
- Airflow Rate: Use the FAN setting button to cycle through various airflow rates (Auto, Indoor unit quiet, Low, Middle low, Middle, Middle high, High).
Timer Functions:
- OFF TIMER: Sets a specific time for the unit to turn off.
- ON TIMER: Sets a specific time for the unit to turn on.
- WEEKLY TIMER: Allows programming up to 4 on/off/temperature settings for each day of the week. Includes a "Copy mode" to duplicate settings across multiple days.
Multi System Operation:
- When multiple indoor units are connected to one outdoor unit, priority is given to the first unit turned on. Subsequent units should be set to the same operation mode.
- NIGHT QUIET mode and OUTDOOR UNIT QUIET operation require all operated indoor units to be set to the quiet mode for the function to work effectively.
- "Priority room setting" can be configured during installation, allowing one room's operation mode to take precedence.
Maintenance Features
General Care and Cleaning:
- Front Panel: Can be opened for cleaning. It should be removed by sliding it to the left or right, then pulling it forward. Clean with a soft cloth dampened with water and neutral detergent if needed, then dry in the shade.
- Indoor Unit, Outdoor Unit, and Remote Controller: Wipe with a soft cloth. If bothered by dirt, consult the service shop.
Air Filter Maintenance:
- Cleaning Frequency: Recommended every 2 weeks.
- Procedure:
- Open the front panel.
- Push the filter tab upwards slightly, then pull the air filter down and out.
- Wash with water or clean with a vacuum cleaner. If dust is stubborn, use neutral detergent thinned with lukewarm water, then dry in the shade.
- Reinstall the filters and close the front panel.
- Caution: Do not touch the aluminum fins with bare hands.
Titanium Apatite Deodorizing Filter Maintenance:
- Cleaning Frequency: Recommended every 6 months.
- Replacement Frequency: Recommended every 3 years.
- Procedure:
- Open the front panel and pull out the air filters.
- Remove the titanium apatite deodorizing filter by unhooking the 4 claws.
- Cleaning: Soak in lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes if dirty. Do not remove the filter from the frame when washing.
- Shake off remaining water and dry in the shade.
- Reinstall the filter and close the front panel.
- Note: This filter cannot be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner.
Before a Long Idle Period:
- Operate the unit in "FAN only" mode for several hours on a fine day to dry the inside.
- After operation stops, turn off the breaker for the air conditioner.
- Clean the air filters and reinstall them.
- Remove batteries from the remote controller.
Periodical Maintenance:
- It is recommended to have periodical maintenance by a specialist, as the inside of the air conditioner may get foul after several seasons, affecting performance. Contact the service shop for specialist maintenance; costs are borne by the user.
Troubleshooting:
- The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting guide for common issues, including poor cooling/heating, remote controller malfunctions, unusual odors, and abnormal operation.
- It also includes a fault diagnosis by remote controller, displaying specific codes (e.g., 00, UA, U0) to indicate various system faults.
- Safety Precautions: Emphasizes turning off the breaker and contacting service immediately for issues like burning smells, abnormal sounds, power cord damage, or water leaks. Warns against self-repair.
