Function Description
The Daikin VRV IV system is a versatile air conditioning system designed for cooling, heating, fan-only operation, and program dry (dehumidification). It utilizes an inverter series heat pump, allowing for efficient and precise temperature control. The system supports various operation modes: COOLING, HEATING, DRY, and FAN.
The Program DRY function is specifically designed to remove humidity from the air by alternating between weak cooling and stopping the unit, preventing the room temperature from dropping excessively. During this mode, the microcomputer automatically controls temperature and fan strength, which cannot be manually adjusted. This function is not available if the room temperature is 16°C or lower.
The system can be controlled via a wired remote controller (BRC1C62) or a wireless remote controller (KRC19-26A for 3, 4, 5, 6 hp models). The manual primarily focuses on the wired BRC1C62 controller.

- ON/OFF button: Starts and stops the system.
- OPERATION LAMP (RED): Lights up during operation.
- TEMPERATURE SETTING button: Adjusts the thermostat's set temperature (1°C increment/decrement).
- OPERATION MODE SELECTOR button: Selects COOLING, HEATING, DRY, or FAN modes.
- FAN SPEED CONTROL button: Selects LOW or HIGH fan speed.
- AIR FLOW DIRECTION ADJUST button: Adjusts the air flow angle (automatic swing or fixed direction). Available for FXCQ, FXFQ, FXHQ, FXAQ models.
- TIMER MODE START/STOP button: Activates/deactivates timer programming.
- PROGRAMMING TIME button: Sets start/stop times for the timer (1-hour increments).
- FILTER SIGN RESET button: Resets the filter sign lamp after cleaning the air filter.
- INSPECTION/TEST OPERATION button: For qualified service persons only.
- COOL/HEAT CHANGEOVER SWITCH (KRC19-26A only): Sets the system to cooling or heating operation.
- FAN ONLY/AIR CONDITIONING SELECTOR SWITCH (KRC19-26A only): Sets the system to fan-only or heating/cooling operation.
Master Remote Controller Setting:
- In systems with multiple indoor units connected to one outdoor unit, one remote controller must be designated as the master. Only the master controller can select the cooling/heating operation mode. Slave controllers will follow the master's operation mode, though they can change to PROGRAM DRY if the master is in COOLING.
Energy Saving Tips:
- Avoid excessive cooling or heating; maintain moderate room temperatures (26-28°C for cooling, 20-24°C for heating).
- Cover windows with blinds or curtains to block sunlight and outdoor air.
- Ventilate the room periodically.
- Keep doors and windows closed during operation.
- Turn off the main power switch when the air conditioner is not used for prolonged periods to save energy.
- Use flow direction adjustment skillfully: horizontal for cooling (cold air sinks), downward for heating (hot air rises). Avoid direct airflow on occupants.
- Use timer operation to pre-start the unit and reach the desired temperature.
Maintenance Features
General Maintenance:
- Air Filter Cleaning: When the "TIME TO CLEAN AIR FILTER" display appears, refer to the indoor unit manual and clean the air filter. After cleaning, press the FILTER SIGN RESET button on the remote controller.
- Professional Cleaning: Periodical maintenance by a specialist is recommended, especially if the indoor unit becomes foul after several seasons of use. This helps maintain performance and quality.
Safety Precautions for Maintenance:
- Do not disassemble, modify, or repair the air conditioner yourself. This can lead to water leakage, electric shock, or fire. Always consult your dealer.
- Do not move or reinstall the air conditioner yourself. Improper reinstallation can cause water leakage, electric shock, or fire.
- Before cleaning: Stop unit operation, turn off the breaker, or remove the power cord to prevent electric shock and injury.
- Avoid wet hands: Do not operate the unit with wet hands to prevent electric shocks.
- Scaffolding safety: Exercise caution when working at high elevations, such as during air filter cleaning or inspection.
Troubleshooting (Common Issues and Explanations):
- Unit not operating: Check fuses, circuit breakers, and power supply. The unit may automatically resume operation after a power interruption.
- Delayed start: The system may delay starting (approx. 5 minutes) for protection or microcomputer preparation.
- No hot air immediately (heating): The unit warms up for about 1 minute before discharging air.
- Heating stops suddenly (defrost operation): The system is defrosting the outdoor unit. The indoor fan stops, and the remote controller displays "DEFROST/HOT START." This typically lasts 3-8 minutes.
- "Zeen" sound: Indicates the refrigerant bypass valve is in operation.
- "Pishi-pishi" squeaking sound: Caused by expansion/contraction of plastic parts due to temperature changes.
- "Sah," "Choro-choro" sound: Heard when another indoor unit is operating, as a small amount of refrigerant flows through the system.
- "Shuh" sound: Refrigerant gas flowing through units or flow stop/change.
- Outdoor unit emits water/steam: Frost melting during defrost (heating) or condensation during cooling/dry operation.
- Mists from indoor unit: Room air cooled into mist by cold airflow.
- Odour from indoor unit: Smells absorbed from the room, furniture, or cigarettes are discharged. Professional cleaning may be required.
Abnormalities Requiring Service:
- Burning smell, abnormal sound, frequent safety breaker trips, switch/button malfunction, water leaks from the indoor unit. In such cases, stop operation, turn off the breaker, and contact your Daikin dealer.
- If the remote controller displays "INSPECTION," "UNIT No.," and "MALFUNCTION CODE," inform your dealer of the displayed contents.
