Overview

This document provides installation and operation instructions for a Daikin VRV System Inverter air conditioner, specifically a Ceiling Mounted Cassette (Single Flow) type. It covers models FXKQ32AV16, FXKQ40AV16, FXKQ50AV16, and FXKQ63AV16.

Function Description

The Daikin VRV System Inverter air conditioner is designed to provide cooling and heating for various indoor environments, including household, business, and light industry settings. It operates as a Grade A product, meaning it may cause radio frequency interference in residential settings, requiring users to take appropriate measures if this occurs. The unit utilizes R410A refrigerant, which requires specific handling due to its properties, including strict cleanliness and dryness requirements for the system, and the need for charging in its liquid state to prevent composition changes. The system is designed for indoor use and includes a built-in drain pump and float switch to manage condensation. It can be controlled via a remote controller, with options for single indoor unit control, group control, or control by two remote controllers for one indoor unit. Centralized control is also possible, requiring specific group number settings. The unit incorporates features for forced OFF/ON control, allowing external input for system management.

Usage Features

Installation: The installation process requires careful attention to safety precautions and adherence to national standards. The unit should be installed on a solid foundation capable of withstanding its weight, with reinforcement considered for areas prone to strong winds, typhoons, or earthquakes. Proper positioning ensures even air distribution and unobstructed airflow. The ceiling opening dimensions are critical and should align with the provided paper board for ceiling opening. All piping (refrigerant and drain) and electrical wiring must be prepared and connected according to the manual's instructions, ensuring proper insulation to prevent condensation and leakage. Special pipe cutters and flaring tools for R410A are mandatory, and only specified flaring nuts should be used. The drain piping must be installed with a downward gradient of 1/100 or more to prevent air embolism and ensure proper drainage, with the drainage lifting pipe height kept within 635mm and vertical. Electrical wiring must be carried out by qualified electricians, using specified wires and ensuring secure connections to prevent electric shocks or fire hazards. A separate power supply circuit and an earth leakage circuit breaker are essential. The remote controller and transmission wiring should be routed at least 50mm away from power wiring to avoid electromagnetic interference. After installation, a test run is required to check for normal operation and proper drainage.

Operation: The air conditioner is operated via a remote controller. Users should be instructed on how to operate each function and regulate temperature. The unit's fan starts approximately 30 seconds after powering on. During heating operation, there may be a preheating period of 1 to 4 minutes before hot air is discharged. If the unit stops suddenly, it may be undergoing defrosting, which typically lasts 4 to 12 minutes. The system includes an automatic restart control in case of power failure. Users should avoid placing objects in the air inlet or outlet, as this can impair performance or cause injury. The unit should not be used for purposes other than its intended function, such as cooling precision instruments or food, as this may affect their quality or longevity.

Safety: Several safety precautions are highlighted. Installation should only be performed by specialized personnel. The unit must be earthed, and earth wires should not be connected to gas pipes, water pipes, lightning rods, or telephone earth wires. In case of refrigerant leakage, immediate ventilation is required, and contact with fire sources should be avoided as toxic gas may be produced. Electrical parts should not be touched when the unit is powered on or with wet hands. The unit should be installed out of reach of children (at least 2.5m above ground). Flammable materials or sprays should not be used near the unit. If the unit malfunctions or emits a burning odor, the power should be turned off, and a local dealer contacted. The main power switch should be turned off for prolonged periods of non-use to save energy.

Maintenance Features

Air Filter Cleaning: The remote controller or centralized controller will display a "Filter cleaning" signal when the air filter needs cleaning. The frequency of cleaning depends on the dustiness of the environment, with a recommendation of at least once every half year for dusty places. To clean the air filter, the suction grille must be opened by gently pushing back the three locks and pulling it down at a 35-45 degree angle. The two air filter pieces are then removed by pushing them to the end and pulling them upward. Filters can be cleaned using a dust collector or by washing with water and a neutral detergent. Hot water above 50°C and drying by fire should be avoided to prevent fading or deformation. After cleaning and drying in a shaded place, the filters are reinstalled, and the "filter cleaning signal resetting" key on the remote controller is pressed to clear the display.

General Maintenance: Only professional service personnel should perform maintenance work. All power supply must be turned off before contacting wiring devices. The unit should not be cleaned with organic solvents, paint thinner, or liquid insecticide, as these can cause cracks, electric shocks, or fire hazards. Regular maintenance and inspection contracts are advised to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the unit. After years of operation, accumulated dust can impair performance, necessitating professional servicing. Before discarding, transporting, or resetting the unit, the refrigerant must be recovered. The unit should be handled by qualified recyclers for electrical and electronic products.
