Tailgate Assist Installation - Page 1

Step 1: Adjust Nutsert Tool

Adjust the nutsert tool to achieve a 3/4" gap from the washer to the bolt head.

Step 2: Install Nutsert

Install the nutsert at the tailgate pivot point, tightening between 9 and 12 turns.

Step 3: Install Ball Mount

Apply thread lock to the ball mount threads and install into the nutsert with a 13mm wrench.

Step 4: Remove Tailgate Cable and Bolt

Remove the tailgate cable and bolt using a T45 torx socket or provided wrench.

Step 5: Install Cable/Ball Mount

Install the cable/ball mount and washer with thread lock using a 17mm wrench.

Step 6: Connect Shock to Mounts

Install the cable on the inner mount and the shock on the ball mount.

Step 7: Install Shock End

Install the narrow end of the shock onto the previously installed ball mount.

Step 8: Remove Motion Limiter

Remove the other cable end and motion limiter by prying the flat nut and spinning the bolt.

Step 9: Install Cable Clip

Press the cable clip onto the cable 3 1/2" from the top to prevent binding.
