Overview

The EV200 Elevating Table, Model 8680R, is a general-purpose radiography device designed for medical imaging applications. This document provides essential information for its installation, maintenance, and operation, emphasizing safe usage and compliance with regulatory standards.

Function Description

The EV200 Elevating Table is primarily used in radiography to position patients for X-ray examinations. It features a motorized telescopic base that allows the tabletop to be raised and lowered, providing flexibility for various patient positions and imaging needs. The table top is a four-way float top, enabling precise longitudinal and transverse adjustments to facilitate accurate patient positioning relative to the X-ray source. Electric locks are integrated to maintain the desired position of the tabletop once adjusted. The table's movement (raising and lowering) and locking mechanisms are controlled by easily identifiable foot pedals.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Tabletop Dimensions: The tabletop provides 43.5 inches (110.5 cm) of longitudinal travel and 9.5 inches (24.1 cm) of transverse travel.
  • Height Adjustment: The tabletop can be lowered to a minimum of 20.62 inches (52.5 cm) above floor level and raised to a maximum height of 33.5 inches (85 cm).
  • Weight Capacity: The table has a maximum lifting capacity of 500 pounds (227 kg).
  • Bucky Integration: A built-in feature permits an automatic stop at a Source-to-Image Distance (S.I.D.) of 40 inches from the X-ray tube's focal spot, which is crucial for consistent imaging.
  • Power Supply: The EV200 is available in either 120 VAC, 60 Hz, or 240 VAC, 50 Hz configurations. This must be specified when ordering. For 120 VAC operation, it requires 20 Ampere service on a dedicated line.
    • Mains Connection Cable: 3 conductors, 12 AWG (2.5 mm)
    • Power Supply Voltage: 120 / 240 VAC @ 8.4 / 4.3 Amps
    • Frequency: 50 / 60 Hz
    • Nominal Current (Full Load): 7.6 A (slow-blow) type 3AG
    • Mains Connection Capacity: 0.7 KVA
  • BRH Compliance: The EV200 Elevating Table and its accessories comply with the radiation performance standards of the Department of Health and Human Services as per Title 21 CFR, Subchapter J, Section 1020.

Usage Features

  • Foot Pedal Controls: The table's raising and lowering functions are managed by foot pedals. The "DOWN" pedal lowers the tabletop, while the "UP" pedal raises it. The tabletop moves at a constant speed as long as the pedal is depressed.
  • Automatic Shutdown: Downward movement automatically stops at the exposure position and the lowest limit switch position.
  • Electric Locks: The tabletop's four-way float movement is controlled by electric locks, which are released by depressing a pushbutton. These locks ensure the tabletop remains in the desired position during examinations.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Table power must be ON before a patient gets on or off the table, as locks will not operate without power.
    • Extreme care is required when changing table height to ensure the patient and operator are clear of tubestand equipment and the Bucky area.
    • The table must be securely fastened to the floor before use.
    • A red panic switch is provided to immediately shut down power to the table in an emergency.
  • Collision Sensor Switch: The table includes a collision sensor assembly to prevent damage during downward movement. This switch inhibits the elevator command if an obstruction is detected.

Maintenance Features

The EV200 Elevating Table requires regular preventative maintenance to ensure safe and optimal performance. This includes:

  • Maintenance Schedule: Inspections should be performed at installation, 90 days after installation, and semi-annually thereafter by trained service personnel.
  • Cleaning: Regular cleaning of external metallic surfaces and exposed tracks is recommended to remove dust and maintain smooth operation. Lubrication of moving parts should be done with light oil. Painted metal surfaces should be cleaned with a clean cloth and mild soap or paste wax.
  • Structural Checks:
    • Verify the table is rigidly mounted to the floor and all anchor bolts are secure.
    • Confirm the tabletop is level and adjust with shims if necessary.
    • Check mounting bolts for the speed reducer, motor, and idler sprocket mounting bracket.
  • Chain Tension Adjustment: Inspect chain tension (snug but not overly tight) and adjust if necessary (0.12" deflection at mid-span) by loosening the lock nut, adjusting the tension screw with an Allen wrench, and retightening the lock nut.
  • Mechanical Component Inspection: Check the chain, sprockets, gears, and racks for signs of wear. Re-grease gears and racks with lithium grease as needed.
  • Bucky Carriage Inspection: Ensure the Bucky carriage runs freely on its tracks without excessive play. Verify that the magnetic lock and push-button release switch function properly. Adjust the lock to run as closely as possible to the rear rail without rubbing. Lightly oil the rear Bucky carriage rail.
  • Tabletop Movement Verification: Operate the table to ensure all motions are free from rubbing or resistance, and that the tabletop stops correctly at both extremes and the 40-inch S.I.D. position.
  • Collision Sensor Switch Adjustment: A preliminary setting for this switch can be achieved using a switch adjustment block. The switch should inhibit downward movement when the tabletop encounters an object.
  • Adjustable Tension Bearing Assemblies: These assemblies maintain proper tension on the lower surface of the tabletop guide rail. Ensure the bearing rides touching the lower surface of the guide rail and adjust its height if necessary.
