146 Managing a Switch Stack
2
For each switch in the stack, connect one or more cables from a stacking
port on the switch to a stacking port on the next switch. If connecting
cables in parallel for stacking, the port speeds must be identical. A 40G
port configured as 4x10G is considered to be operating at a 10G speed.
Add additional cables in parallel as needed until the desired stacking
bandwidth is achieved.
3
Repeat this process until all of the devices are connected.
4
To complete the ring topology for the stack, connect one ore more stacking
ports on the last switch to the remaining stacking port(s) on the first
switch. Add additional cables (of the same speed) in parallel to achieve the
desired stacking bandwidth.

How is the Stack Master Selected?
A stack master is elected or re-elected based on the following considerations,
in order:
1
The switch is currently the stack master.
